Full description
"The lamps are low, the cloth is green, and the corner table is waiting for someone who can earn it." Cue Haven is eight-ball pool set in an art-deco members' club, with brass trim, swaying lamps and a house full of regulars who would very much like your chips. Drag on the cloth to aim, pull the power cue down and let go. The rules are the old ones: break, claim solids or stripes, clear your group and sink the 8 to take the frame. THE HAVEN LADDER Ten regulars sit on the club's ladder, and you meet them one rung at a time. Mabel Dunn is just here for the cocktails. Otis Crane plays every Tuesday and loses every Tuesday. Further up you will find Felix "Bank Shot" Rowe, who never goes straight when there are four rails to use, Ines "The Surgeon" Moreau, Lola "Dynamite" Brandt and Silas "The Professor" Grey. Near the summit waits Rosa "Black Ink" Valdez, and at the very end August Haven himself, the owner, who promises the corner table to whoever gets the better of him. Each regular plays at one of five skill levels, Casual, Regular, Shark, Hustler and Legend, and each carries a purse of chips for the winner. The computer opponent plans its shots by running the same table physics you play on, so it makes believable choices rather than impossible ones. Beat a rung to unlock the next face on the list. THE TABLE AND THE RULES Aiming is done with a finger on the cloth, and a FINE wheel handles hair-width adjustments. A dashed line runs to the ghost ball, and a brass line shows where the object ball will travel. Tap high on the spin ball for follow or low for draw, then pull the power cue as far as the shot needs. Fouls are handled properly. Scratching, hitting the wrong group first, missing everything, or failing to send a ball to a cushion after contact all hand your opponent ball-in-hand. Pot the 8 early, or scratch while potting it, and the frame is gone. The aiming guide can be switched off in the Club settings for players who like to judge angles by eye, and left-handed controls move the cue controls to the other side. When you would rather not face the ladder, start a quick frame at any of the five skill levels, or pick Pass and Play and share one device with a friend, taking turns at the table. TRICK SHOTS Nine fixed layouts test precision rather than tactics. Warm Up is one ball and one corner. Side Door shows that the middle pocket is narrower than it looks. Around the 8 places the black ball on guard, and touching it ends the attempt. Cluster Bomb asks you to split a pack and clean up, Four Corners spreads a ball to every corner of the room, and Rail Riders hugs the cushions. Grand Finale saves six balls, the 8 in the way and the lights low for last. Each trick has a shot budget and up to three stars, and a hint costs 10 chips if you need a nudge. THE PRO SHOP AND THE LEDGER Chips are earned only at the table, from ladder purses, quick frames and trick shots. Spend them in the Pro Shop, established 1926, on six cues from the House Cue to Haven Gold, five cloths including Emerald, Claret, Midnight, Slate and Champagne, and three ball sets: Classic, Deco Brass and Jewel Box. Each better cue lengthens your aiming guide a little, and a display case lets you admire the combination you have chosen. The Ledger is your member's account. It records frames played and won, win rate, balls potted, longest single visit, pots on the break, fouls, shots taken, ladder rung, trick stars and chips won. Twelve seals mark milestones such as Opening Night for a pot on the break, Hat Trick for three balls in one visit and Spotless for a frame without a foul. There are no adverts, no accounts and no in-app purchases anywhere in the club, and the tables adapt to phones and tablets in either hand. Chalk your cue, take a seat at the first rung and start climbing towards the corner table. Cue Haven plays entirely offline, so the lounge is open wherever you are.
