Draft — review with a lawyer This is a plain-language draft written for an India-based operator. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and items marked ⚠️ still need a decision.
The short version
- You can use App Intel without an account. We do not ask who you are.
- We only keep your email if you ask for alerts — and only after you confirm it by clicking the link we send you (double opt-in). Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
- Our own cookie is a single session cookie for signing in. No analytics or tracking cookies of our own.
- Free pages show Google AdSense ads, and Google may use cookies for them. Paid plans have no ads.
- We do not sell personal data.
Who we are
App Intel is run by ⚠️ operator legal name and address, India (“we”, “us”). We decide why and how your personal data is processed — under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 we are the Data Fiduciary.
Contact: ⚠️ contact email (CONTACT_EMAIL). Grievance Officer: ⚠️ name, email — see the end of this page.
What we collect, why, and for how long
| Data | When | Why | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| IP address, browser type, page requested, time | Every visit (server logs) | Keeping the site secure and working, stopping abuse | ⚠️ 30 days |
| A one-way hash of your IP address | When you send a form (removal request, “check all countries”, “track this app”) | Rate limits (for example 5 removal requests per hour) and spotting repeated abuse | Counters: 1 hour, in memory. Stored with a removal request: as long as the request |
| Email address and the alerts you chose | Only when you ask for alerts | Sending those alerts. We first email a confirmation link; nothing else is sent until you click it | Until you unsubscribe, then deleted within ⚠️ 30 days. Unconfirmed addresses: ⚠️ 7 days |
| Account: email, password hash (if you set a password), plan, watchlist, saved lists | When you create an account (email + password, or an emailed sign-in link) | Providing the features you signed up for | Until you delete the account |
| Removal request: app or developer, what to hide, contact email, message, IP hash | When you send one | Handling the request and keeping a record of what we hid and why | ⚠️ 2 years after it is closed |
| Billing details | When paid plans launch | Payments, GST invoices, tax records | As long as Indian tax law requires. Card and UPI details stay with the payment provider; we never see full card numbers |
We use this data only for the purposes above. Where the law asks for consent (alert emails, accounts) we ask for it and you can withdraw it at any time — withdrawing is as easy as giving it. Server logs and abuse protection are needed to run a public website safely.
Information about app developers
App pages show the developer details Google Play publishes on each listing: developer name, website, and — depending on a site setting — the support email. Postal addresses are hidden by default. These details are made public by developers on Google Play; we republish them so users can contact app makers.
If you are a developer and want your email, address or a whole page hidden here, use the removal request form. It is free and a person reviews it.
Cookies
- Our cookie: one session cookie, set only when you sign in, so the site remembers you are signed in. It is strictly necessary, holds a random identifier (no personal data), and expires when you sign out or after ⚠️ 30 days. Visitors who do not sign in get no cookie from us.
- Advertising (free pages): we use Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technology to show ads, including ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google's ad settings, read how Google uses data from sites that use its services, or opt out of other vendors at aboutads.info. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA and UK) we ask for consent before personalised ads are shown ⚠️ consent tool to be set up.
- Pro and Business: no ads and no ad cookies.
Who we share data with
Only service providers that help us run App Intel, under contract and only for that purpose:
- Hosting and content delivery — Contabo (server in France, EU) behind Cloudflare (content delivery and protection).
- Email delivery for alerts, sign-in and password-reset emails — Resend.
- Google AdSense on free pages (see Cookies).
- Payments for paid plans — Stripe (outside India) and Razorpay (India). They process your card or UPI details; we never see or store them.
We may disclose data when Indian law requires it, for example to a court or a government agency with a valid order. We do not sell or rent personal data.
Some providers may store data outside India. We only transfer data to countries the Government of India has not restricted, and with providers that protect it.
Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
- correct or update it, or erase it when it is no longer needed;
- stop processing that relies on your consent (unsubscribe links do this instantly for alerts);
- handle a complaint (grievance), and nominate someone to act for you if you die or become unable to.
Write to ⚠️ contact email from the address concerned. We reply within ⚠️ 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
App Intel is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18, and we do not target ads at children. If you believe a child has signed up for alerts, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The whole site uses HTTPS. We store IP addresses only as salted one-way hashes outside the short-lived server logs, limit who can access the database, and keep only what we need. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
We will update the date at the top when this policy changes. For important changes we will also email confirmed alert subscribers before they take effect.
