Full description
I wanted to know what my room was doing to a recording, and the options were a guess or a consultant's invoice. So I made RoomLab do the part a phone can honestly do. There are multiple ways to measure. Hold the phone at ear height and make one sharp sound: clap once, hard and short, or pop a balloon. The app listens to how the room lets that sound die away and gives you RT60 per octave band, a flutter echo check, the noise floor and one score out of 100 for the room, with an explanation of what the number means. Tap a band to see the decay curve behind the number. Bands a clap or a balloon cannot reach are left out and labelled; a speaker sweep reaches the low bands, from your own speaker or from SignalLab on a second phone, which RoomLab can open straight on the right sweep. Tell RoomLab what the room is for: recording, a classroom, an office, a lecture hall, speech and meetings, music and rehearsal, or a gathering. The score, the headline and the colours follow that use, because a room that is too live for a recording can be exactly right for people talking. Every limit shows where it comes from and what it does not tell you. Every spot also gets a note in plain words on why its number is what it is. Save spots under one room name and you get a rotatable 3D box with a coloured dot per spot, plus how much the room changes from spot to spot, often the real finding. "Hear this room" plays a dry beat through the recorded response (or a synthesis from the numbers when none was kept), so you can listen to the room instead of reading it. History puts two measurements of the same room side by side, per band, with a verdict: shorter, longer, no difference. RoomLab also takes readings from the other labs on your phone, on a tap and with nothing uploaded. NoiseLab can send a full-room level, how loud the space gets when it is in use, which a clap cannot hear. MicLab can send the reverb and noise floor of your recording spot. Both show up next to your measurement. All of that is free and unlimited. Your first PDF report is free too. Pro is a one-time purchase via Google Play, no subscription, for when the room has to be explained to someone else. It adds unlimited reports and a Sabine treatment plan (pick a target, get absorption per band and m2 per material, measured bands only), and it goes into the PDF, along with the readings sent from NoiseLab and MicLab. Plus the beat as the room would sound after the plan, your name and logo on the report, and CSV or JSON export. RoomLab is one of seven small labs by AudioLab.tools, each made to do one job well: RoomLab (room acoustics, RT60), NoiseLab (sound level meter), MicLab (mic check), LevelLab (LUFS loudness meter), SignalLab (tone generator), TuneLab (chromatic tuner) and SkillLab (ear training). They share one look, and some hand their results to each other. No ads. No account. Your audio never leaves your phone. Anonymous usage stats are off by default. What's new

Saved spots remember how each band was read (T20 or T30, how sure, how much clean decay) and show it under Read as. Comparing two spots now warns when they used different methods, when one was marked rough, or when the estimators differ.
