Give a compatible spare Android phone or tablet a new role as a camera, and watch from another authorized device. Watchtower combines live viewing and saved moments with layouts for phones and larger tablet screens. PAIR WITH INTENT Use a one-use QR or pairing code, then compare the verification code on both devices. For an ongoing household setup, create a private Space and explicitly approve camera enrollment and viewer access. SEE AND SPEAK Open a live view, zoom and rotate the view, or hold Talk when the session permits it. Camera and microphone use have separate controls. Close the privacy shutter or stop Camera Mode when you are finished. SAVE SELECTED MOMENTS Take snapshots and make recordings using the available device controls. Optional on-device motion detection can save local evidence. Manage saved items and local retention, or export a passphrase-encrypted archive through the system share sheet. USE YOUR TABLET'S SPACE Open the foreground Monitor wall for two to four ready, authorized Space cameras. Monitor tiles are video-only; they do not provide talk or camera controls. KNOW THE LIMITS Live viewing needs a camera device and a viewer device, suitable permissions, and a working network connection. Camera Mode is foreground-first. Any supported Android background session requires your explicit opt-in and an ongoing notification with a Stop action; the operating system can still interrupt it. There is no guarantee of uninterrupted or 24/7 capture. Saved local media uses the app's encrypted storage after it is committed. Recording preparation can use temporary plaintext files. Optional shared event clips travel through the service, and account, device, connection and event metadata are not hidden by media encryption. Review the privacy policy before enabling sharing. Use Watchtower only where you have permission to record. It is not an emergency, medical, or guaranteed security service. Availability and quality depend on the device, operating system and network.
