Relay RoIP: Radio over IP

Relay puts your two-way radio network on an IP network, and puts a push-to-talk button in your pocket. The Relay app is the mobile side of a Relay RoIP system. Sign in to your organisation, open a channel, hold the button and talk. Everyone on that channel hears you: the operator on the web console at a desk, the supervisor on the road with the app, and the crew on handhelds at the site. WHAT YOU CAN DO - Push to talk into any channel you have been given access to. - Hear live traffic from the radios bridged into that channel. - Record a message first and let Relay send it the moment the channel is clear, so you never talk over anyone. - See who is on a channel and who is speaking right now. - Play back channel traffic your organisation has chosen to record. - Check the health of the Relay devices in the field. HOW IT WORKS A Relay device sits with each radio or base station and bridges its audio and its PTT line onto an IP network. Relay does not touch the RF. Your radio keeps transmitting exactly as it does today, on the band and the licence you already hold. The app reaches your channels over the internet, so a dispatcher in an office, a manager on the road and the handheld on site are all on the same channel. Relay works with the radios you already run. Mobile, base or repeater. Analogue or digital. VHF, UHF or airband. Our reference install is an Icom IC-A120 on airband, bridged through the mic port and the external speaker jack. Every manufacturer wires its connectors differently, so we build the loom to suit your radio. No radio modification, and nothing that voids a warranty. WHO IT IS FOR Security operations, farm watch groups, aviation and ground handling, mining, logistics, events, and anyone running more than one site or channel who is tired of being tied to a base station. ACCOUNTS The app is free to download and needs an account on an existing Relay network. Your administrator invites you by email and you set your password from that invite. You cannot create a new Relay network from inside the app. WHAT RELAY COSTS Two numbers, both excluding VAT. Hardware, once-off per device: R8,500 each for one to four devices, R7,500 each from five devices up. Platform, per month per device: R1,500 for the first five devices, R1,200 from the sixth. You buy one Relay device per radio or base station you want on the network, and that device is yours. The device is the only thing we meter: operator accounts are unlimited, radio users are unlimited, and your team keeps the handsets it already carries. The monthly covers hosting, the web console and the mobile apps, channel recording and playback, over-the-air updates to every device in the field, and monitoring plus support. Pay ten months upfront and get twelve. Networks past roughly fifteen devices are quoted as a whole. Worked example: two sites, one Relay device at each. R17,000 once-off for the hardware, then R3,000 a month for the platform, with everyone on both sites on the console and the app at no extra cost. AUDIO, RECORDING AND PRIVACY Relay captures and transmits audio, because that is the product. Whether a channel is recorded, and for how long its audio is kept, is set by your organisation.
