Day Tripper: Packing Kits

You do the same things over and over. You surf most weekends. You ski all winter. You go to the gym, you camp in the summer, you fly somewhere for work twice a year. And every single time, you build the same list from nothing and forget one thing. Day Tripper is not a trip planner. It is a place to keep the gear each activity needs, so that the second time you pack for something is better than the first. HOW IT WORKS Build a kit. Pick an activity — surfing, snowboarding, skiing, hiking, a beach day, the gym, camping, business, running, cycling — and name a kit for it. "VT Ski Kit." "Summer Surf Kit." Add your real items, with a quantity rule for each one: a fixed number, so many per day, one per three days, so many per week. Make a trip. Where you're going, when you leave, how many nights. That's the whole form. Get a list. Your kit comes back scaled to the trip, not copied flat. Two pairs of socks a day over four nights is ten pairs, and the list says so on the line: "5 days × 2/day." Pack it. Check items off as they go in the bag. Skip what you didn't need. The kit notices. EVERY LINE TELLS YOU WHERE IT CAME FROM Most packing apps hand you a list and expect you to trust it. Day Tripper tags every line with its source and its reasoning, so you can disagree with it: • your gear — from your own kit, scaled to this trip • others pack this — what people who do this activity reliably bring • good to start — a sensible default, because you have no kit for this yet • AI suggested — a gap filled by a model, only when there is nothing of yours to draw on • you added — yours, added by hand A list built entirely from your own kit uses no AI at all, and the app says so at the top. THE FORECAST FOR WHERE YOU'RE ACTUALLY GOING Type a destination and Day Tripper looks up the real place and pulls the forecast for your travel window, up to about two weeks out. It shows you which place it matched, and lets you correct it when it guesses wrong. Cold in the window and the list adds a layer and says why. IT GETS BETTER BECAUSE YOU USE IT The first list for a brand-new activity is a starting point. The fourth one is yours. Packing and skipping is the only training the app needs — there is no separate setup step, no survey, no "rate this suggestion."
