Offling

Offling is an idle game turned inside out: your creatures only grow while your phone is down. Put it away and every screen-off minute earns them XP. Pick it up and they show you what you missed. THE DEN • Your flock lives in an animated den. They wander, hop, nap by the trough, and the eggs roll about. Tap one to hear what it's been up to. • Fill the feed trough before you put the phone down. They eat while you're away. Whatever is left spoils the moment you pick the phone up. • Dress the den with scenes bought with the berries you earn: a meadow, a night grove, a tidepool, an ember hollow, and seasonal looks that only visit for a month. • Put the trinkets they bring back out on the ledge, and watch them get carried around. HOW IT WORKS • Every full minute your screen stays off earns 1 XP. Under a minute counts for nothing. • Levels cost more as you go: one hour of downtime per current level. • Five stages, and they visibly grow: Egg, Hatchling, Fledgling, Wanderer, Luminary. • Long absences bring back trinkets. The longer you stay away, the rarer the find. YOUR RHYTHM SHAPES YOUR CREATURE While it is still an egg, Offling notices when you tend to be away. Quiet nights, slow mornings, daylight spent elsewhere, screen-free evenings, or long deep stretches of stillness each hatch a different species: Nocturne, Dawnling, Sundrift, Duskwing, or Fathom. The egg will even tell you which way it is leaning. THE ROOST AND THE JOURNAL • Raise up to four at once. They share your downtime. Hatch more with berries, and give them names. • A weekly recap of how long your phone was down, against last week. • Quiet nights (six hours or more, overnight) build a streak. Seven in a row earns a charm you cannot find any other way. • A journal of every absence, and a collection of every trinket found. • Sign in with Google to keep your flock in the cloud and move growth between devices. HONEST BY DESIGN Offling measures only screen-off time, on your device, through Android's Usage Access setting. No permission, no growth. No timers to babysit, nothing to tap repeatedly. The whole game is a reason to put the phone down.
