Full description
Your phone interrupts you dozens of times a day, and almost none of it needed to reach you at that exact second. LaterBell batches the notifications you pick and brings them back as a scheduled summary at the times you pick — a notification scheduler for the apps that can wait. Three times a day is the suggested setting — 8:00, 13:00 and 19:00 — and you can change the times, add a separate set for weekends, or pick one time a day if that is what you want. Calls, alarms, verification codes and the people you choose always come through immediately. How it works, and why that matters LaterBell does not make a copy of your notifications. It uses Android's own hold mechanism, so the notification that comes back is the original one: it has the real app's icon and name, the reply box still works, and tapping it opens the actual message rather than dumping you on an app's home screen. If you read something on another device while it was waiting, it quietly disappears from the summary instead of coming back stale. When a delivery time arrives, everything comes back together, with a single summary telling you how much just arrived. What never waits - Calls and missed calls - Alarms, reminders and calendar events - Verification codes, and anything Android marks as sensitive - Ongoing notifications, like a running timer or a download - Music, media controls and navigation - People you add to your always-through list — and one message from them does not release everything else, it just comes through by itself What you control - Which apps can wait, and per app, which kinds of notification - The delivery times, and separate weekday and weekend sets - Names that always come through - An optional quiet mode, off unless you turn it on No account, no server, nothing leaves your phone LaterBell has no internet permission at all. Not "does not send your data" — it cannot: an Android app without the internet permission is refused a network connection by the operating system, and you can check that in the permission list on this page. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no crash reporting. It keeps no history either. What is waiting is stored on your phone only, and is deleted the moment it is delivered. What LaterBell cannot do These are real, and they are here rather than in the small print. - It cannot stop the first sound. Android plays a notification's sound before it tells any app about it. LaterBell can hold the notification but cannot un-ring what already rang. The app walks you through setting a held app's notifications to Silent, which fixes it properly, and offers an optional quiet mode as the other route. - It cannot keep a smartwatch quiet. Notifications sent to a watch are out of its reach. - It cannot survive a restart. Android discards every notification when the phone restarts, so anything waiting is lost with them. - It cannot stop your phone from closing it. Some manufacturers shut background apps down. The Health screen shows when a notification was last seen, so you can tell. - It cannot read verification codes on Android 15 and later, and does not try. Those always come through immediately. Quiet mode needs Android 10 or later. LaterBell never changes, enables or disables a Do Not Disturb mode you or another app created — it adds one of its own and removes only that one. Good for focus, study or simply fewer interruptions: delay notifications from busy group chats, shopping and social apps without turning their notifications off for good — they just arrive later, together. Nine languages. Light and dark themes. Android 8.0 and later.

What's new

• New: LaterBell now asks for notification permission when you turn holding on, so the summary can be shown. If notifications are blocked, the home screen shows a link to the settings. • Fixed: the summary notification now uses the app's language, not the phone's. • Fixed: changing the app language no longer creates a second quiet-mode rule. • Fixed: the back arrow now points the right way in Arabic.
