Phoni for Greeklish speakers

Phoni is voice typing for Greeklish speakers: people who speak Greek and English, often in the same sentence. Talk in Greek, in English, or in both at the same time, and Phoni writes every word in its own language: Greek in Greek letters, English in English. It was made for the Greek Cypriot community and understands Cypriot Greek. BOTH LANGUAGES AT THE SAME TIME Phoni is built for mixing. A slider tells it which language you're speaking, so every sentence goes to the right speech model and nothing gets translated: your English stays English and your Greek stays Greek. A spelling check puts back the final ς and misplaced accents. AI THAT RUNS ON YOUR PHONE Phoni works with open AI models that you download once onto your phone: Parakeet for English, Canary for Greek and, for the optional clean-up, Gemma. Getting these models to understand Greek and English together, and to run quickly on a phone, is what Phoni does. After the one-off download: • everything happens on your phone, even offline • your voice is never saved and never sent anywhere • no account, no cloud, no ads, no tracking HOW IT WORKS 1. When your keyboard is up, a small Phoni bubble floats beside it. Tap it and talk. 2. It starts in your language (English or Ελληνικά, your choice). When you switch language, slide the slider across; slide it back when you switch again. 3. Tap stop and see exactly what it heard. Nothing goes in until you tap Insert. Prefer a keyboard? Phoni is also a voice keyboard, with the same slider. OPTIONAL AI CLEAN-UP With Gemma downloaded (2.6 GB), Phoni can tidy what you said (fillers, punctuation, self-corrections) or turn a spoken request into a clear prompt for an AI assistant: on your phone, and only when you tap it. IT LEARNS YOUR WORDS Fix a dictation once and Phoni learns the names and words it misheard, and gets them right from then on. Add a few lines about yourself so the AI gets your names and places right. GOOD TO KNOW • Free, with no ads and no in-app purchases. • The bubble uses Android's accessibility service, only to see when your keyboard is open and to type your words into the text box you're in. Phoni explains this before you turn it on, and nothing it sees is kept or sent anywhere. • The speech models need about 1.7 GB of free space (plus 2.6 GB for the optional AI). Use Wi-Fi for the one-off download. • Works best on recent, powerful phones. • The AI clean-up is better in English than in Greek.
