Full description
Pikarin is a gentle learning app, made in Japan, for children ages 3 to 6. Hiragana, katakana, numbers, mazes, shapes, music and more - over 35 kinds of puzzles and games, and your child picks what to play from 20+ genres. A warm Japanese voice explains every puzzle, so a child who cannot read yet can play alone. Please note: this app is entirely in Japanese. All audio and text are Japanese, and there is no English mode. It is made for children growing up with Japanese - bilingual families, families keeping Japanese alive far from Japan (heritage language), and anyone who wants their child to hear real, everyday Japanese. ■ What is inside (your child chooses) - Hiragana and katakana: trace each character, match words to pictures, find the letter for a sound - Numbers: count, compare more and less, put things in order, "how many more?" - Mazes: follow the path on a map, and hide-and-seek (where is Nikuman?) - Shapes and space: jigsaw puzzles, loading a truck, mirror symmetry, building shapes from triangles - English letters: trace the alphabet and hear words that start with each letter - Thinking: matching, finding the same, memory games, making up a story - Music: high and low notes, and playing songs on a keyboard that lights up - Clock: how the hands move, and how a day goes - Everyday play: shopping, pocket money, a udon shop, a fire engine, a garbage truck ■ Made for small children - Every puzzle is spoken aloud, so reading is not required - No penalties and no red crosses for a wrong answer - mistakes are just part of playing - Big tap targets, tuned so a small palm resting on the screen does not set things off - The difficulty follows your child, separately for each subject - Nikuman, a little steamed-bun friend, grows as your child plays - One reward sticker for each day your child finishes a session ■ What we are aiming for This is a preschool app, for the years before school starts. Rather than getting ahead of other children, we built it so a child can keep going a little every day, and can choose for themselves what to play. That is why there are many kinds of puzzles and genres, each one checked by hand. ■ For parents - See the current difficulty, raise or lower it, or fix it in place - Choose how many puzzles make up one session, or set no limit - A report card shows how your child is doing in each subject ■ Safe and ad-free - No ads, ever - Anything that matters, like settings and purchases, sits behind a parent gate (a simple sum) - We do not collect personal information from children - The microphone is used for talking to Nikuman. The audio is processed on the device and is never sent to a server - No gacha, no loot boxes, no separate item purchases - Once it is downloaded, everyday play works offline ■ About the subscription Pikarin is an auto-renewing monthly subscription. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial; when the trial ends, the monthly charge starts automatically at the price shown in your country's store, so please cancel before the trial ends if you do not want to be charged. Even without a subscription, your child can play 3 puzzles a day for free. You can cancel anytime from [Subscriptions] in Google Play, or inside the app from the [gear icon] -> parent gate -> [Manage or cancel your subscription]. Cancelling at least 24 hours before the renewal date stops the next charge. Because this is digital content, we cannot give partial refunds. Made in Japan by a small independent studio, so that every child can grow their thinking - and their Japanese - at home.

What's new

・Story: put the scenes of 6 animal stories in order. ・Tracing: pick water, sand, stars, stamps or snow. ・New Katakana genre. ・Shopping: kids can choose which shop to visit. ・More puzzles: clock, trains, udon shop, number order, sound stairs. ・More finger guides and sounds; tablet layout fixes. ・Clearer app icon. ・New 7-day free trial for first-time subscribers. It renews monthly unless canceled before the trial ends. You can still play 3 puzzles a day for free without subscribing.
