VSware Sign In/Out

VSware Sign In/Out turns a tablet at your school's front desk into a self-service sign-in point. Students arriving late or leaving early find their own name on screen and sign themselves in or out, and the record goes straight into your school's VSware attendance data — nothing to transcribe from a paper book afterwards. Requires an active VSware subscription. Staff sign in with the account issued by their school admin; the app cannot be used correctly without one. HOW IT WORKS A staff member logs in once, sets an admin PIN, and leaves the device at reception. From then on it sits on the sign-in screen. A student taps Search by Name, types a few letters, picks their name, and confirms Sign In, Sign Out or Sign Back In. After a short pause the screen resets itself, ready for the next person. AT THE KIOSK • Find a student by typing any part of their name, or filter by class • Names containing fadas match whether or not the accent is typed • Sign in, sign out, and sign back in after a midday appointment • Photos and class details on the confirmation screen, so nobody signs out the wrong student • Plain guidance when an action is not allowed — a student without an approved late-arrival or sign-out permission is told to call to the office, not just refused ACCURATE ATTENDANCE • Late arrivals and early departures are timestamped as they happen • VSware decides how each arrival is recorded against that student's own bell time and permissions: on time, authorised late, unauthorised late, or explained absence • Sign-outs record whether the student is expected back the same day • Everything lands in the attendance record the office already works from BUILT FOR AN UNSUPERVISED DEVICE • Kiosk mode keeps settings, history, audit log and diagnostics behind an admin PIN • The back button and system gestures are disabled, so nobody can wander out of the sign-in screens • The device returns to the sign-in screen after a period of inactivity and closes any admin session • Five incorrect PIN entries lock the device for five minutes, and every attempt is recorded • Staff can unlock admin features with a fingerprint or face unlock instead of the PIN FOR OFFICE STAFF • Device history of every sign-in and sign-out made on the tablet, filtered by today, this week or this month, and searchable by name, ID or class • Audit log of security and admin events, with retention controls • Activity reports covering sign-ins today, failed PIN attempts, admin sessions and security alerts LANGUAGES AND ACCESSIBILITY • English and Gaeilge • Large touch targets and high-contrast text, sized for a device on a wall bracket or desk stand • Light and dark themes, following the device setting • Screen reader labels throughout CONNECTIVITY Student lists are cached on the device, so searching stays quick. Signing in and out needs a live connection, because every action is checked against that student's permissions in VSware before it is recorded. If the network drops, the app says so plainly rather than accepting a sign-in the office would never see.
