Full description
Most phone habits are not decisions. Your hand moves, the app opens, and a few minutes are gone before you chose anything. SlowLock puts a few empty seconds where that reflex used to be. Pick an app, choose how long to wait, and put the shortcut on your home screen. Tapping it shows a blank screen for the seconds you chose, and then the app opens. Nothing is forbidden. If you still want the app after the wait, you get it. Often you will have put the phone down before then. HOW IT WORKS 1. Choose an app. Search your installed apps and pick the one you reach for without thinking. 2. Set the wait. Anywhere from one to thirty seconds — long enough to notice what you just did. 3. Add the shortcut. It lands on your home screen with the app's own icon, or a gray or inverted version of it, so you can tell the slowed one apart. Repeat for as many apps as you like. Each one keeps its own wait. Open SlowLock any time to change a wait or remove a lock. A WAIT THAT IS MEANT TO BE BORING The wait screen has no countdown, no progress ring, no animation. Nothing ticks down and nothing is worth watching, because a timer you watch is still screen time. You are simply left with a moment to notice why you picked up the phone. NO STREAKS, NO COUNTERS, NO SHAMING SlowLock does not score you, does not send notifications, and does not report on your usage. It is a nudge for someone who wants one, not a blocker to fight with. There is no lock to defeat: uninstalling the shortcut or the app is always your call. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT - No accounts and no sign-in - No analytics, no trackers, no ads - No internet permission — the app makes no network requests at all - Everything you configure stays on your device SlowLock does not read your notifications, does not use accessibility services, and does not watch what you do in other apps. It only needs to see the list of apps that can be opened from your home screen, so you can choose one. FREE AND OPEN SOURCE Every line of SlowLock is public. Read it, build it yourself, or file an issue: github.com/tberchanov/SlowLock Works on Android 8.0 and newer. Adding a shortcut to the home screen requires a launcher that supports pinned shortcuts (most do).

What's new

SlowLock puts a pause between the reach and the app. Pick an app, choose how long you want to wait, and SlowLock pins a shortcut to your home screen. Tapping it opens a countdown before the real app launches — just enough friction to notice the habit and back out. No blocking, no accounts, no tracking. Your locks stay on your device.
