Full description
Pensum is a fast, private calorie counter and macro tracker for weight loss, muscle gain and body recomposition. Log food in seconds by search, barcode scanner, description, photo or voice, and get calorie and protein targets from a TDEE measured from your own weigh-ins. MEASURED, NOT GUESSED Most calorie counters hand you a formula and call it your TDEE. Pensum measures it. After a few weeks of food diary and weigh-ins, your real energy expenditure is calculated from your own numbers, and it updates every time you step on the scale. A weekly check-in suggests a new calorie target; you decide whether to apply it. LOG FOOD IN SECONDS The everyday loop, weigh and search and log, takes as few taps as possible. A home screen widget puts today's calories and macros on your launcher, with search, barcode, voice, and photo logging two taps from there. The built-in food database works offline. No streaks, no badges, no 200-screen onboarding, no nagging. Open it, log it, done. A NUTRITION DATABASE YOU CAN TRUST Clean generic foods come first; branded noise stays behind them. USDA for US foods, with deep European coverage most apps skip (the German BLS and the Swiss Food Composition Database), and Open Food Facts barcodes on top. Search returns the food, not 40 packaged products. HONEST NUMBERS Every search result says which database it came from and how many of the 18 tracked vitamins and minerals it reports, so you can pick the better entry before you log it. Calories, protein, carbs, and fat are flagged verified, partial, or estimated, micronutrients too. A daily quality page checks fiber, free sugar, saturated fat, and sodium against WHO and DGE reference values and shows which foods drive each number. Estimates are marked as estimates, photo logging included. WHAT YOU GET • Gram-level food logging in a clean, fully editable food diary • Home screen widget: today's calories and macros on your launcher, one-tap logging, dark or light • Generic-first food search that names its source and its data depth; barcode scanner via Open Food Facts • Photo logging you control: say what you already know ("about 150 g beef, a little oil"), get an editable ingredient breakdown, and correct it yourself • Voice logging: tap the mic and say what you ate; the transcript stays editable before anything lands in your diary • 18 vitamins and minerals tracked, with the foods behind each number a tap away • AI estimates for missing micronutrients and free sugar, always marked as estimates, never overwriting measured values • Scanned a product with wrong numbers? Re-scan the nutrition label and the correction applies to every day you logged it • Import your history from Cronometer, MacroFactor, MyFitnessPal, Lifesum or OpenNutriTracker, so you arrive already calibrated • Saved meals and recipes: build once, log in one tap, with per-serving micronutrients composed from the actual ingredients • Custom foods for anything missing • Weight tracker with trend, energy balance, and macros by meal • Optional goal weight with a projected date, read from the pace your weigh-ins show • A monthly recap you can share, drawn on your phone • Calorie and macro targets: set them yourself or compute them from your stats • Health Connect: sync weight and body fat, and optionally show your fitness tracker's burned calories next to your intake • Metric or imperial, dark or light PRIVATE BY DESIGN Local-first. No account required. Your food diary stays on your device. What leaves your phone is limited and specific: the photos, labels, recipes, and food names you choose to send for AI analysis; a food search or barcode when the built-in catalogue has no match, which goes to Open Food Facts; and anonymous usage stats (a per-install id, the app version, and which features you use, never what you eat or your body data). No ads, no third-party tracking, no selling your data. Free. No ads, no account: a food tracker that stays out of your way.

What's new

Voice log now runs on the AI and gets food names like Skyr or Quark right. No extra AI actions. Scrubbing the expenditure chart over longer ranges shows the average behind the line. FDDB imports keep the right time of day and can replace an earlier import. Also new in 1.22.0: share recipes as links, calorie cycling by weekday, Settings > Display, search by barcode number, FDDB import.
