Float Fishing Simulator

Most of the time, nothing happens. That is the game. You sit on a bank somewhere in the world, you watch a float, and every so often it goes under. In between, the light changes, a heron works the far shallows, and the weather comes in off the hills. There is no timer, no energy bar, and nothing waiting to interrupt you. WHAT IS IN IT • 189 fish species, each with its own habits: what it eats, how deep it sits, what hour it feeds, what it does to your line when it feels the hook. • 2000 lakes across 20 regions: Romanian plains, the Danube delta, Carpathian tarns, British club ponds and gravel pits, Scandinavian lakes, alpine water the colour of glass, Iberian reservoirs, Balkan karst, Japanese ponds, Indian monsoon lakes, Siberian taiga, the Canadian north, the African bush, desert oases, Amazon backwaters, Asian paddies, North American flowages, Australian billabongs, the Mediterranean, the frozen north. • Weather and seasons that mean something. Rain flattens the surface and brings fish up. Winter locks the shallows. Spring floods the margins. The same lake in October is not the lake you knew in June. • A tackle shop with 1383 items: hooks, line, floats, rods, reels, baits, groundbait, keepnets, clothing, gear. Everything you buy does something, and the expensive thing is not always the right thing. • An atlas of 189 fish, 321 animals and 413 plants, each with a written entry: where it lives, what it eats, and the one thing about it worth remembering. • Achievements you can actually chase, from your first roach to the fish nobody in your town believes you caught. HOW IT PLAYS Cast with one thumb. Watch the float. Strike when it goes under. A moment too early and you pull the bait out of its mouth, a moment too late and it is gone with your worm. The fish you land goes into your keepnet. You sell it when you want, or you put it back: give up the money and the day pays you twice the experience instead. That choice means something different at level five than it does at level five hundred. Depth, hook size, line thickness, bait and where you drop the float all decide what comes to you. None of it is hidden. All of it can be learned by sitting there, which is the whole idea. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO No timers. No energy. No lives. No notifications telling you your fish are hungry. Nothing that expires while you are asleep. No forced ads. Nothing on launch, nothing between casts. The only ads are short clips you choose to watch when you want a gift in the game. Works offline. The internet radio needs a signal; the fishing does not. TWELVE LANGUAGES Romanian, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Hungarian, Turkish, Russian and Ukrainian. Monea Software has been making games since 1990, starting on a ZX Spectrum with 48 kilobytes. One of them, from 1994, was about fishing. This is that game, thirty-two years later, with the lake finally in it.
