Full description
Turn any Android tablet into a permanent Home Assistant wall panel: a locked kiosk mode for your smart home dashboard. H2 Wall Panel locks a wall-mounted tablet to your dashboard and keeps it running 24/7. No root, no ADB, no PC needed. Made for Home Assistant, with auto login and automatic discovery. Any other home automation dashboard that runs in a browser works too: openHAB, ioBroker, Node-RED, Grafana. KIOSK MODE AND LOCKDOWN • Full-screen kiosk on the dashboard address you choose • Home and Recents stay in the kiosk • Back never leaves the kiosk, it steps back in your dashboard • Notification shade usable for brightness and Wi-Fi, or locked with one switch • Power menu blocked while the kiosk runs (can be switched off) • Other apps cannot come to the front • Exit with your PIN: Volume Up 7 times or 7 taps on one free spot • Or switch kiosk mode off and on from Home Assistant • Restarts by itself after a reboot or power cut KIOSK BROWSER • Links on your dashboard open in the wall panel • Back to the dashboard after 1 to 30 minutes without a touch • Optional: only your dashboard plus a list of extra addresses SCREEN AND SCREENSAVER • Dim or dark screensaver after an idle time you set • Photo slideshow from a folder you pick, with its own brightness • Per-weekday schedule, e.g. dark from 23:00, back on at 06:30 • Burn-in protection shifts the page by up to two pixels • Orientation lock: portrait or either landscape MOTION DETECTION (OPTIONAL, OFF BY DEFAULT) • The front camera notices somebody walking up and wakes the dashboard • Each frame is reduced to brightness values in the app and discarded at once • No picture is stored or sent anywhere • Android's green camera indicator stays visible HOME ASSISTANT MQTT INTEGRATION (OPTIONAL, FULL VERSION) • Connects to an MQTT broker you run yourself • Home Assistant finds the tablet via MQTT discovery • Reports battery, charging, screen, kiosk state, a problem flag, schedule, motion, Wi-Fi signal, current page and app version • Control it from Home Assistant: kiosk lock, screen on/off and brightness, screensaver, reload, restart, open another page • None of this goes to us. No account, no cloud BUILT TO RUN FOR MONTHS • Recovers by itself after a browser engine crash • Reloads with a backoff when your smart home server is down • Nightly reload while the wall tablet is idle • Its own offline page instead of a browser error WHAT IT NEEDS • Android 9 or newer • An accessibility service, used only to keep the kiosk locked. It never stores or sends screen content • Display over other apps, usage access, 3-button navigation • No screen lock, so the wall display comes back after a power cut DEMO AND FULL VERSION Free to try. The demo kiosk shows a watermark and by default ends after 60 seconds. The Home Assistant connection needs the full version; its connection test works in the demo. Full version: one-time purchase per device, no subscription. PRIVACY No account, no analytics, no crash reporting. Dashboard token and broker password are encrypted with an Android keystore key. For auto login the token is also kept in the dashboard page's storage, like a browser login. For the device license, the app sends a pseudonymous device ID to our license server: once after installation, with your Google Play purchase, on "Restore license" and daily while licensed. H2-AI GmbH, Oberderdingen, Germany. Questions: [email protected] ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE DISCLOSURE This app uses Android's accessibility service to keep the device locked to your dashboard while kiosk mode is running. The service detects when another app or a system window comes to the foreground and returns the panel to the dashboard, blocks the Home and Recents keys, and closes the notification shade and the power menu, each if enabled. It is used solely to enforce kiosk mode. It does not collect, store or transmit screen content or any personal data. You can leave kiosk mode at any time with the exit gesture and your PIN.

What's new

First release. Lock a tablet to one dashboard and leave it on the wall. Full-screen kiosk, dim or dark screensaver, photo slideshow, per-weekday schedule, burn-in protection and orientation lock. Optional: wake the panel with the front camera. Full version: connect it to your own MQTT broker so Home Assistant finds it and can control it. Free to try in demo mode. One purchase per panel unlocks the full version.
