Evennight: Sleep Sound Masking

Adaptive sound for quieter sleep. Night-time noise rarely stays the same. Passing cars, voices outside and unfamiliar surroundings can make it harder to settle. Evennight turns your Android phone into a sound masker designed to soften the contrast between a quiet room and changing noise. Adaptive mode listens for rising nearby sound and gently adjusts the tone and volume of its masking. Steady mode gives you an even background instead. Use it at home, in student accommodation or when travelling. TUNED TO YOUR PHONE AND ITS PLACE Start with optional guided calibration. Evennight plays a sequence of test sounds and measures how your phone's speaker is heard through its microphone in that position. It uses these measurements to tune its response to your setup and help distinguish outside noise from its own masking sound. Save up to three named presets and reuse them each night. Recalibrate when you change the phone, its position or surroundings. LISTEN EARLY. RESPOND SMOOTHLY. Adaptive listens for rising noise and adjusts both the level and tone of its masking sound as that noise builds. Its early-rise response is designed to begin lifting the masker before an approaching sound reaches its loudest point. As the disturbance fades, the masking eases back towards a quieter background. You choose a comfortable volume initially with your phone's buttons; Evennight handles the changing response within that setting. WHY TIMING MATTERS Research on night-time road traffic found that awakenings were more likely with louder vehicle pass-bys and faster rises in sound level. Choose Adaptive for responsive masking or Steady for an even background without microphone access. Tap Start, lock the screen and settle in. Stop from the app or its notification. Calls and other audio may pause or stop masking. PRIVATE, ON YOUR PHONE Microphone audio is processed on your phone and is never saved or uploaded. Sound works offline after access is confirmed. Internet is needed for purchases and periodic access checks. Offline access lasts until your confirmed subscription period ends or 30 days after the last successful check, whichever comes first. Reconnect after restarting your phone; some phones also need a check after reopening the app. Billing checks do not interrupt a running session. Uninstalling does not cancel. KEEP IMPORTANT SOUNDS AUDIBLE Use the lowest comfortable volume. Keep smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms, emergency warnings and people who need you audible. Calibration does not set a safe volume, and Evennight does not detect emergencies or guarantee alarm audibility. Evennight has not been clinically tested.
