Full description
Dot Quarry Counts is a quiet logic puzzle cut out of stone. Every numbered cell tells you exactly how many cells are shaded in the three-by-three block around it - and it counts itself as one of the nine. Work out which cells those are, block by block, and a picture slowly lifts out of the slab. Nothing is hidden. Every number is on the board from the first second. There is nothing to uncover, nothing to trip over and no luck involved. Each board is built by rubbing out clues only for as long as two plain deduction techniques can still finish it, so every board can be solved by reasoning alone. You will never have to guess. HOW IT PLAYS - Tap a cell to move it from empty, to shaded, to a cross, and back again. - Press and drag to paint a whole run of cells - essential on the big boards. - A number dims once its block is satisfied, and turns rust-red if it can no longer come out right. - Undo steps back through your work as far as you like. - A nudge points at one cell the numbers already force. It is never a random reveal. - Assists can be switched off if you would rather work with a bare slab. THREE SIZES - Quarry Tile, 10 x 10 - a hundred cells, a short sit-down cut. - Stone Slab, 15 x 15 - room for a real silhouette to appear. - Rock Face, 20 x 15 - three hundred cells of proper work. Boards are generated fresh every time you ask for one, so there is no level pack to grind through and no way to run out. WHAT IT KEEPS Boards finished, best time for each size, cells shaded, your nudge-free run and twelve chisel marks to earn - all stored on the device, all still there when you come back. A board you have not finished is saved as you go, so you can put the phone down halfway through a rock face and pick it straight back up. BUILT DELIBERATELY SMALL - Completely offline. The app asks for no internet permission at all. - No adverts. No trackers. No analytics. No accounts. No sign-in. - No sound whatsoever, so you can play it anywhere and in any company. Feedback is visual, with an optional short buzz you can turn off. - No in-app purchases, no currency, no wagering, no countdown pushing you along. - Flat cut-stone greys drawn as vector graphics, which keeps it sharp on every screen and keeps the download tiny. Suitable for everyone. If you enjoy nonograms, a counting puzzle or a plain crossword, this sits comfortably alongside them - but the goal here is the opposite of a minefield. Every number is already showing. What you are building is a picture.
