Full description
Most food diaries ask more of you than they give back, which is why yours is sitting on your phone unopened. Tare is built the other way round: log your dinner in seconds, see where the day stands, and get on with your evening. Effortless calorie tracking: Open the app and one number tells you where you are, with what you have eaten, what you have left, and how your protein, carbs and fat are doing underneath it. Nothing to set up: the screen that opens is the one holding the answer you came for. Adding a food is search, tap, done, whether it is a banana or last night's curry. The target that number is measured against comes with its working shown, so you can see exactly where it came from and change it if you disagree. An extensive food catalogue: The food you actually ate is in here. The catalogue runs to millions of products with real nutrition on them, filtered to the country you live in, so a search for yoghurt brings back the tubs from your own supermarket instead of something sold on another continent. When a packet has a barcode, scanning it fills the whole thing in, and that stays free no matter what. Anything missing you can add once and reuse forever, or build into a recipe. Built in weight tracking: Food and weight in one place is what lets you see whether any of it is working. Step on the scales, put the number in, and Tare plots it against everything you have eaten since. It shows ninety days instead of thirty, because a bad night's sleep can move you two kilos and a month is too short a window to trust. Insights, with Tare Pro: Some things only ever show up across a month, like the way your protein falls off at weekends, or how much of your day lands at dinner. Tare compares this week against the last, shows where your calories actually go, and reads the scale against your logging to work out what you burn a day — a real figure from your own data, not an equation with your height in it. Every Monday morning it writes you a paragraph on the week that just finished, and what to do about the one starting. One day of data is noise; thirty is something you can act on. And AI, if you want it: There will be nights when you are not going to type anything, and those are the nights a food diary usually dies. Photograph the meal instead and Tare works out both the foods and the portions, so chicken, rice and salad comes back as three entries with three weights, not one guess called dinner. Describe it in a sentence and you get the same result. Photograph the label on a packet and all nine numbers fill themselves in. Nothing is saved until you have looked at it, and every food and every portion can be corrected with a tap before it reaches your diary. The calorie counter is free and stays free. Free, and staying free - Log food, search the catalogue, scan barcodes - Create your own foods and turn them into recipes - Calorie and macro goals, with the working shown - Weight tracking against your goal over time - Your whole day, across nine nutrients What Tare Pro adds - Photograph a meal and have the foods and portions read off it - Describe a meal in a sentence and have it logged - Photograph a nutrition label instead of typing nine numbers - Thirty days of insights, and what your logging says you actually burn A note on what this is not: Tare is a food diary, a calorie counter and a macro tracker. It is not a coach, it does not write meal plans, and it does not give medical advice. Your targets are estimates from published equations, not a prescription, so if you are managing a medical condition or have a history of disordered eating, please talk to a professional instead of an app. Subscriptions are billed through your Google Play account and can be cancelled there at any time.
