POWER OF THE KRAKEN Every hand deals four cards to you and four face-down cards to your opponent. Both sides ante into the pot. You may discard up to two cards and draw replacements, once, and so does the Kraken. Then the hands are revealed and the stronger one takes everything.  THE KRAKEN'S GRIP Before the showdown, a tentacle may reach across the table and drag one of your cards into the dark. Pay pearls to make it let go, or accept the loss and draw a replacement. It is the moment every hand turns on.  A 24-CARD DECK Four houses - Shell, Turtle, Angler and Jelly - across five ranks from 10 up to Ace, plus four Wild cards that stand in for anything. Straight flushes, four of a kind and three of a kind are all reachable, and a Wild card is the most dangerous thing you can be dealt.  HAND RANKINGS Four of a Kind beats a Straight Flush, which beats Three of a Kind, then a Flush, a Straight, Two Pair, One Pair and High Card.
