Baby What: Nappy & Kick Log

Baby What?! is what we asked ourselves when expecting. So we built an app to answer it every week, with articles, tools and charts for each stage, to grow a happy baby. Before the birth, the app tells you what is happening to your baby each week, it helps you understand your baby's active hours and gives you reminders for appointments and pelvic floor exercises. In baby mode, it helps you keep track of when the last feed was, how long your baby slept, and how many nappies there have been today. In both modes, the photo diary holds the photographs and the milestones. All data can be automatically synced across multiple parents and carers. A SHARED TOOL FOR THE HOUSEHOLD Invite the other parent, a grandparent, or whoever has the baby today. Every feed, nappy, sleep and diary entry either of you writes appears on all phones in the household, with the name of who wrote it. The nappy tracker takes one hand, because the other one is holding a baby. A nappy is one tap, and it records whether it was wet, dirty, mixed or dry, and what colour the poo was. For breastfeeding you start a timer. For a bottle feed you type the amount. Sleep, pumping, baths, temperature and crying go in the same log. WHAT YOU LEARN ABOUT YOUR BABY The library of 600+ concise articles, with references, lets you learn what is happening at your own pace, with only a handful of articles recommended to you each week: each article is chosen for how far along you are or how old your baby is. The app also features 20 tools to help you measure and navigate having a baby. You count kicks with one thumb, and the kick counter tells you the hours your baby is usually busiest, e.g. 21:00 to 23:00, so you learn the pattern. Weight, length and head measurements, yours or your midwife's, go on a growth chart next to the World Health Organization references. WHAT YOU STOP HAVING TO REMEMBER You can set a reminder for the vitamin D drops every morning, for the next midwife visit, or for anything else you keep forgetting. Appointments hold the date, who is going, and the questions worth asking at that stage, so you are not trying to think of them in the room. There is a baby checklist for the hospital bag, the nursery and what needs buying, and you can add your own. WHAT YOU WILL HAVE IN TWO YEARS A baby diary holds photographs, video and milestones as they happen. Every entry carries the day, the stage and a title, so you always know when each photograph was taken. Bump and newborn photos line up in order and play back as a time lapse. WHERE YOUR RECORD LIVES Everything you write is stored on your phone, and the whole app works with no signal. When you sign in, you can choose to store records and photographs online, so the other parent can see them and you do not lose them if you lose your phone. You can export everything at any time. FREE TIER AND SUBSCRIPTION The free tier includes the daily reading, the whole diary, every tool with its three most recent records, one reminder, one appointment each way and the emergency screen. Your records can be shared between up to 2 people, and you can always export your whole record history. The subscription adds the whole library to browse and search, the charts for every log, the full table of records behind each tool, the time lapse export, more reminders and appointments, and records shared between up to 4 people.
