PAL is a reading journal. Your books sit on four shelves — your to-be-read pile, what you're reading, what you've finished, and your wishlist — and that's all it takes to know where you stand. SHELVE WITHOUT TYPING Scan a book's barcode: its record arrives on its own, cover included. Or search for it by title. You can fix what the catalogue gets wrong — a page count, a language, a genre — and replace a cover with your own photo. KEEP YOUR JOURNAL A star rating, a review, the passages you want to keep. Start and finish dates, to the day, or just the year when you no longer remember. And the right to put a book down as "Abandoned" — a decision, not a failure. SEE WHERE YOU ARE Pages read, genres, authors, reading pace, yearly goal. A calendar that places your reading in time and keeps the releases you're waiting for. CHOOSE WHAT TO READ When you can't decide, the wheel picks from your pile for you. Suggestions start from what you've already loved. WITH FRIENDS, IF YOU LIKE Follow your friends' shelves, see the books you've both read, and talk about a book in its thread. Your profile stays private until you decide otherwise, and nothing is ever public by default. CHALLENGES, AND NO LEADERBOARD Thirty-six challenges, levels, bindings to earn and a few secrets. They're there to show what the app can do, and they count everything you read before you met them. There is no leaderboard and no comparison between accounts: your reading doesn't have to be a competition. PAL changes colour with the seasons. No ads, no purchases, no tracking.
