Full description
CyberCat Defesa looks after the security of the device you use for work. It is installed at the request of the company that contracts CyberCat Security and acts on a single point: your own device. WHAT THE APP DOES • Shows the device's security posture — what is up to date and what needs adjusting • Blocks access to known malicious domains (phishing, scams, malware), locally on the device • Shows the "protected by CyberCat" badge while protection is active • Warns you when a check stops passing, with the step to fix it USE OF VPNSERVICE (ANDROID LOCAL VPN) To block malicious domains, CyberCat Defesa uses Android's VpnService. This is why the VPN (key) icon appears in the status bar while blocking is on. • Why it is needed: it is the only way Android offers a security app to filter DNS lookups on the device itself, on Wi-Fi and mobile data, without administrator (root) access. • How it works: the app creates a local VPN that receives only DNS lookups (website names). Each lookup is checked, on the device, against a list of malicious domains. If the domain is on the list, access is blocked right there; if not, the lookup continues normally to your network's DNS server (or, if it cannot be identified, to the Quad9 public resolver). • What it does NOT do: it is not a VPN service. It does not create a tunnel to any CyberCat Security or third-party server, does not change your IP address, does not route the rest of the device's traffic, does not read the content of what you access, and does not modify other apps' traffic for ads or any kind of monetization. • Privacy: the domains you look up are not logged or sent to CyberCat Security. Only a count of how many blocks happened leaves the device, without saying which ones. • Consent: blocking is optional and off by default. It only turns on after you enable it in the app, read the explanation and approve the VPN connection on Android's own screen. You can turn it off at any time, in the app or in Android's VPN settings. PRIVACY The app reads only data from the device itself, and only what is needed to assess its security posture. No employer data comes down to your device. The app does not follow your personal browsing or the content of what you do outside these checks. Data processing follows the Brazilian data protection law (LGPD). Privacy policy: https://cybercat.com.br/privacidade SECURE TRANSPORT Sending the device's posture to our infrastructure uses an encrypted zero-trust network, with the device's own identity. This channel is separate from the DNS filter and does not carry your browsing. ABOUT CyberCat Security is a Brazilian MSSP with a continuously monitoring SOC. CyberCat Defesa is distributed to employees of customer companies. CyberCat Security — CNPJ 56.031.491/0001-92
