Full description
Drawing Warm-up App turns photo references into focused drawing sessions. Search for drawing references, choose the images you want to practice from, set how much time you have, and start sketching. Whether you want quick sketch references for a warm-up, longer drawing studies, gesture drawing practice, or more structure in your art practice, the app helps you spend less time deciding what to draw and more time drawing. HOW IT WORKS * Search for a subject you want to draw. * Browse drawing references and choose the images you like. * Choose your total session length. * Set the shortest warm-up and longest study time. * Let the app build a session with quick sketches and longer studies. * Adjust individual drawing times before you begin. * Draw from a fullscreen reference while the timer keeps the session moving. * Pause, skip or swap a reference whenever you need to. * Review recent references afterwards without a timer. DRAWING PRACTICE THAT FITS YOUR TIME Create a short sketching warm-up when you only have a few minutes, or build a longer session when you want to study a subject in more detail. Short timed sketches can help you focus on shapes, proportions and movement. Longer studies give you more time to observe structure, form and details. FIND REFERENCES FOR WHAT YOU WANT TO DRAW Search for subjects that interest you and create your own practice sessions around them. Try drawing references for: * Animals * Faces and portraits * Hands * People and poses * Gesture drawing * Objects * Nature and plants * Architecture * Vehicles * Food * Everyday scenes * Fantasy ideas * Drawing prompts * Anything else you want to sketch If you already have a drawing prompt in mind, search for matching reference images and turn them into a timed practice session. TIMED DRAWING EXERCISES Timed drawing can make it easier to begin. Set your available time and focus on one clear task: observe the reference and draw what you can before the next study begins. Use quick drawings for sketching warm-ups, gesture drawing, observation exercises, shape and proportion studies, or thumbnail sketches. Move into longer studies when you want more time for form, anatomy, structure and detail. Change the timing before you start, pause when necessary, skip an image that is not working for you, or swap the current reference. FROM QUICK SKETCHES TO LONGER STUDIES Some days you may want several fast sketches to loosen up. On another day, you may want to spend most of your time studying one portrait, animal, object or pose. Choose how short your warm-ups should be, how long the longest study can take, and how much total time you want to spend drawing. MADE FOR PRACTICE, NOT PERFECT ART A session can be five minutes of loose sketches, a longer study, or a mix of quick exercises and detailed studies. The goal is to make starting easier so you can focus on drawing rather than planning. REVIEW YOUR REFERENCES After a session, revisit recent drawing references without a timer. Continue a sketch, look back at the images you practiced from, or use the camera comparison tool to compare your drawing with the reference. WHO IS IT FOR? Drawing Warm-up App is useful for beginners, hobby artists, artists returning after a break, and anyone looking for timed drawing references, gesture drawing practice, sketching warm-ups, or a more structured way to practice. If choosing what to draw is the hardest part, the app gives you a starting point. INKTOBER REFERENCE IMAGES Taking part in Inktober? Search for reference images that match your current prompt, choose the ones that inspire you, and turn them into a focused sketching session. Explore several references before starting your final drawing, make quick thumbnail sketches, or study an unfamiliar subject. This also works for other drawing challenges and daily art prompts.
