Full description
RPG character prompts for deeper roleplay, richer backstories and memorable tabletop RPG characters. Draw thought-provoking questions for your D&D, DnD, Pathfinder, Shadowdark, OSR or other tabletop RPG character. Every question comes in three versions: Character, Table and DM — so the same idea can become personal character development, an interaction at the table or inspiration for the Game Master. 🎲 EXPLORE YOUR RPG CHARACTER Go beyond class, race, abilities, stats and a basic backstory. Draw questions like: • What does your character desperately hope nobody ever asks them? • What would they willingly sacrifice their own safety for? • What does another party member misunderstand about them? • Which two characters understand each other the least — and why? Use the prompts during character creation, between sessions, before your next game or directly at the table. EVERY QUESTION HAS 3 VERSIONS Each question can be explored from three different perspectives: CHARACTER — Turn a question into an idea you can try to bring into your next session. Explore how your character could act, react, reveal something or develop through play. TABLE — Use the cards directly during play. Table prompts create questions, conversations and interactions between party members that can reveal trust, tension, misunderstandings, bonds and unexpected character moments. DM / GM — Turn the character tquestion into preparation ideas. Use player backstories, answers and relationships to inspire scenes, hooks, mentions, NPC connections or callbacks. Some prompts may ask you to check details with a player first, because the information only they can provide. 🧭 FIVE AREAS OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT Questions are built around five parts of a memorable roleplaying character: • Values — beliefs, priorities and difficult choices • Scars — fears, failures and experiences that left a mark • Bonds — friendships, rivalries, loyalty and relationships • Secrets — things hidden from the party or the world • Habits — quirks, routines and small details that make a character feel real BACKSTORY PROMPTS WITHOUT WRITING A NOVEL Not every RPG character needs pages of backstory. Use short character questions to discover history, personality and relationships one detail at a time — then bring those details into actual play. Find inspiration for: • Character backstories • Personality traits and motivations • Fears, flaws and internal conflicts • Friends, rivals and family • Secrets and hidden goals • Party relationships • Roleplaying decisions • Campaign and adventure hooks TURN CHARACTER IDEAS INTO ACTUAL PLAY Use the app to: • Develop a new RPG character • Add depth to an existing D&D or DnD character • Find ideas to try in your next session • Create direct party interactions at the table • Explore relationships, tension and conflicts • Create campfire and downtime conversations • Find backstory prompts and roleplay inspiration • Give your DM or GM useful character information • Turn player backstories into scenes and story hooks • Prepare callbacks, NPC connections and personal campaign moments • Discover motivations, secrets and personality traits MADE FOR PLAYERS, TABLES & GAME MASTERS The questions are system-independent, so you can use them with Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Shadowdark, OSR games and many other tabletop roleplaying systems. No character sheet or complicated character creator required. Draw a question, choose the perspective that fits your situation and turn one small idea into better roleplay. Perfect for D&D players, DnD groups, Pathfinder parties, Shadowdark campaigns, OSR adventures, tabletop RPG players, Dungeon Masters and Game Masters who want deeper characters, stronger interactions and more personal stories.
