Full description
A link that rings. Make a code and it gets a link. Send it to anybody — in a message, on a business card, as a sticker on a door. When they open it and press one button, your phone rings: on the lock screen, with a ring tone, accept or decline, even when the app is not running. They need no account and nothing installed. Any browser will do. What it is not. There are no accounts, no phone numbers, no profiles and nobody to find you. A link is the whole of it, and you decide who has one. Private because of how it is built, not because of a promise. The call is encrypted end to end and goes straight between the two devices wherever the two networks allow it; where they do not, it is passed along by a relay that cannot read it. Nothing is recorded, ever. We do not store callers' addresses. No analytics, no tracking, no advertising. When you cannot answer. The caller can leave a message, spoken or written. Messages are deleted after thirty days, or the moment you delete them. When you would rather not be reached. Pause the code: callers are told at once and can still leave a message, and nothing rings. Or put a Klingelzahl in front of it, so only somebody who knows it gets through — a lock changed rather than a name on a list. A code you no longer want is deleted, with everything on it. More than one phone. A code can ring several. The phone that has it shows a pairing code; the new one takes it. Opening hours. A code that only rings between the times you set, and outside them a caller is told at once rather than left listening. Your calendar can set them, and it never leaves the phone: only free and busy times, never titles, people or places. Klingel Plus is a yearly subscription. The first code is free and stays free — ringing, messages, pause and the printed card are the product working, not a trial. Plus keeps up to ten codes awake at once and adds opening hours, a second phone on one code, and call history beyond the last call. Nothing is deleted when it ends: the extra codes go quiet and come back under the same names. What to know before you start. Because there are no accounts, there is nothing to recover a code with — unless you set one up. Two things bring your codes to a new phone: a second phone added to a code, or a recovery key of eight words you write down. Arrange one of them while you still have the phone. This is not a telephone. It cannot reach 112, 999, 911 or any other emergency service. Keep something nearby that can.
