Pagewright Document Scanner

Pagewright turns a photograph of a page into a document whose words you can search. Point the camera at the page; the app finds the edges, straightens it, reads the text, and keeps it with everything else you have scanned. No ads. No account. No cloud. It has no network of its own, and there is nothing to grant: it asks for no permissions. WHAT IT DOES • Scans with automatic edge detection, crop, filters and rotation, or imports from the gallery • Keeps documents of many pages: add more, reorder them, rename, delete • Reads the text on every page as it is captured, on the phone, and names a new document from its first page • Searches everything you have scanned — the words on the pages as well as the titles • Exports to PDF with a searchable text layer, or to JPG, plain text and Word • Shares any of those to any app BUILT TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY • Everything happens while the screen is in front of you. No background service, no wake locks, no scheduled work, and the screen says in words what it is doing • Your scans live in the app's private storage and leave it only when you export or share them • Nothing is uploaded to be read. Text recognition runs on the phone, from a model that ships inside the app • Asks for no permissions. Capture runs inside Google Play services on its own camera access, and export goes through the system's file picker HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT IS NOT • It reads Latin script — English and the languages written like it. Pages in other scripts are kept as pictures and are not searchable • Scanning needs Google Play services. On a phone without them, or with too little memory to run the scanner, the app says so • There is no backup and no sync, on purpose: a new phone starts empty, which is why exporting is easy • The recognised text cannot be edited, and a page cannot be re-cropped after capture
