Full description
Aera Health is a guided pulmonary rehabilitation program for adults living with COPD. Your care team invites you, and Aera helps you keep up with your breathing routine at home, one day at a time. Aera is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and it does not replace your doctor. Always consult a healthcare professional and follow your care team's advice. Aera is not for emergencies. In an emergency, call 911. Made for older adults: large text, big buttons, plain language, and one thing at a time on each screen. HOW YOU JOIN Aera works by invitation. Your clinic or pulmonary rehab program sets up your account, and you sign in with your phone number and a one-time code. No invitation yet? Ask your care team or visit aerahealth.us. WHAT YOU DO EACH DAY - Check in: answer a few easy questions about your breathing and how you feel. If you have a fingertip pulse oximeter, you can type in your oxygen reading (SpO2). Aera does not measure anything itself. If you do not have an oximeter, that is fine. - Breathe: follow a short, guided breathing exercise, such as pursed-lip breathing. - Move, as your care team advises: follow along with exercise videos at your own level. Stop and rest if you feel chest pain, dizziness, or much more short of breath than usual. The daily check-in and breathing take about five minutes. A STRUCTURED 8-WEEK PROGRAM Each week adds a little more: new breathing techniques, gentle activity, and short plain-language lessons. The program is grounded in established pulmonary rehabilitation practice and reviewed by clinicians. PROGRESS AGAINST YOUR OWN PAST See your week at a glance and how you are doing compared with your own earlier weeks. No leaderboards, and no comparing you with anyone else. YOUR CARE TEAM IN THE LOOP Your care team can review your check-ins, and you can message them in the app. If you and your care team use different languages, messages can be translated. You always see the original message too, and translations are marked as machine translations. If a translation looks wrong, or for anything about your care, contact your care team. Your care team reads messages during working hours, not around the clock. ASK AERA Ask Aera is an AI assistant that answers questions about the program and about using the app. You can type your question or ask it out loud, in English, Spanish, or Chinese. Aera tells you it is an AI when a spoken conversation starts and again when it ends. We keep the text of the conversation, not a recording of your voice. Ask Aera does not diagnose you, give medical advice, or change your treatment, and it is not a way to reach your care team or get urgent help. For anything about your care, contact your care team. In an emergency, call 911. GET HELP Get Help is always one tap away, with buttons to call 911 in an emergency or call or text 988 in a crisis, and a way to reach your care team. FAMILY AND CAREGIVERS A family member or caregiver can help you set up Aera and stay involved. You decide what they see: a calm summary, never your private messages with your care team. READ ALOUD AND LANGUAGES A "Read this to me" button reads the screen out loud. Aera is available in English, Spanish, and Chinese. PRIVACY We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising. The app contains no advertising or analytics software. You decide which family members or caregivers can see your information. Read our privacy policy at aerahealth.us/legal/privacy-policy. IMPORTANT Aera is an educational and supportive program. It is not a doctor. Talk with your doctor before starting any exercise or breathing program, and before making any change to your medicines or care. Aera is not for emergencies. No one watches the app in real time. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call 911. Aera is for use in the United States.
