Full description
BeatMe is a metronome for musicians — for the kind of practice where the click stops being a nag and starts being useful. Set it in a second, or build a bar that nothing else supports. TEMPO • 1 to 999 BPM, decimals welcome • Tap the tempo, double it, halve it, or nudge it by one or five • Type it exactly when you already know the number TIME SIGNATURES • 1 to 16 beats a bar, counted in quarters, eighths, sixteenths or dotted quarters • 5/8, 7/8, 9/8, 11/16 — or invent your own grouping; 2+2+3 is one tap away • Tap any block to accent it, soften it or silence it • Change the subdivision and your accents stay exactly where you put them • A one or two bar count-in before the pattern arrives SUBDIVISIONS AND SWING • Up to eight notes per beat: triplets, quintuplets, septuplets • Swing from dead straight to a hard shuffle POLYRHYTHMS YOU CAN ACTUALLY HEAR Up to four cycles turning against each other inside one revolution — 3:2, 4:3, 5:4, 7:4, 9:4, even 5:4:3. Give each cycle its own note, octave, volume and place in the stereo field, and you stop hearing arithmetic and start hearing music. THE PRACTICE DOES ITSELF • Speed trainer — start at 80, land at 120, climbing a few BPM every few bars. Hold at the top, or loop back and go again. • Gap trainer — bars of silence where you keep the time yourself. The playhead keeps moving. The truth arrives when the click comes back. • End a session on a soft chime after a set number of bars or minutes • Your total practice time, quietly counted A CLICK YOU CAN LIVE WITH Six presets to start — Wood, Click, Beep, Ding, Square and Sine — and Click Lab, where the sound is yours down to the oscillators, the noise, the attack, the decay and the pitch drop. Accent, beat and subdivision each get their own sound and level, and the whole thing pans across the stereo field. SEE IT AND FEEL IT • Haptic pulse — the beat in your hand when the room is too loud • Camera flash on every beat, so you can follow it from across a stage • Keeps playing in the background, and keeps the screen awake while you work SAVE IT Save a whole setup — tempo, signature, accents, sounds, trainers — under a name, and bring it back next week. BUILD A SONG OUT OF IT Songs change as they go, so a song here is a run of sections: a verse at one tempo, a chorus at another, each for as many bars as it lasts. Set a section's length by tapping it, drag sections into order, or dial a new one in on the metronome and drop it straight into the song. BeatMe plays the whole thing through, moving from section to section on the bar. THEN PLAY THE WHOLE SET A setlist is your songs in running order, dragged into the shape of the night, with a countdown before each one so you can pick the instrument up. It can count you in for a bar at the first song's own tempo. Songs are a library, so the same song can sit in as many setlists as you like, and editing it once updates them all. IT LOOKS LIKE YOURS Material You colours that follow your wallpaper, light and dark, and a layout that opens up properly on a tablet. No account. No sign-in. Nothing to connect to. Free, with no ads and no subscription. Every time signature, polyrhythm, trainer and sound is yours from the start. Saving your own setups, songs and setlists is a one-time purchase — buy it once, keep it forever. Press play.
