Full description
Bird Identifier turns your phone into a field guide. Photograph a bird and get a likely match in seconds, led by the habitat the species belongs to. A photo from your gallery works too. WHAT ONE PHOTO GIVES YOU - The common name, and the Latin scientific name under it - The habitat the species belongs to: woodland, wetland, coastal, urban - The taxonomic family, from Corvidae to Anatidae - Body length and wingspan, plus beak shape and foot type - Plumage notes naming the sex, age or season in the picture - Range and migration, diet, and how the species forages - The conservation category of the species, Least Concern to Endangered - The lookalike species, and the marks that separate them - A confidence level, so you can see how sure the match is WOODLAND, WETLAND, COASTAL, URBAN One short label leads every result, because a name on its own tells you almost nothing: habitat tells you whether an identification is plausible. It describes the habitat the species belongs to, not the place your photo was taken: a gull in a parking lot still comes back Coastal. It is a category, not a score and not a map, and a photo that is not a bird comes back Not applicable instead of a guess. FROM THE FEEDER TO THE COAST Garden birds at the window: sparrow, finch, wren, chickadee, woodpecker. Ducks and geese on the water, gulls and pelicans on the shore, herons in the shallows. Raptors over a ridge: hawk, falcon, eagle, owl. Doves and pigeons in the street, flamingos on a lagoon, gamebirds in a field, a parrot indoors. Wild or captive, the answer is a species. BUILT FOR THE PHOTOS YOU ACTUALLY TAKE Backlit, half behind a branch, shot from across the water. When an image will not support a species-level answer, this bird identifier stops at the genus or the family and says so instead of inventing a species. Female plumage, juveniles and autumn warblers often stop there, and that is the honest answer. TELLING TWO LOOKALIKES APART Hairy or Downy Woodpecker. Cooper's or Sharp-shinned Hawk. Every result lists the species yours could be mistaken for and the marks that separate them, and says when two are told apart by range rather than plumage, because region matters and the app does not know where you are. ASK ABOUT THE SPECIES Every scan can open a chat thread about the bird you just identified. Ask what separates it from a lookalike, how far its range extends, what it eats in winter. It stays on birds. YOUR COLLECTION, KEPT Every scan is saved on your device with its photo, so a season of walks becomes a log of the birds you have seen. No account needed. THIRTY-THREE LANGUAGES The interface and the results are available in 33 languages. Latin scientific names stay Latin in all of them. WHO IT IS FOR - Anyone who saw something on the feeder or balcony and wants a name - Birders who want the family, the plumage read and the lookalikes - Parents, teachers and children on a nature walk - Photographers with a card of unlabeled bird files HONEST ABOUT WHAT A PHOTO CAN DO An identification here is a best-effort AI suggestion, not an authoritative determination, and it is made from photographs only. Conservation category is a scientific assessment, not a legal one: it does not tell you what is protected where you live, and nothing in the app is guidance on approaching, handling or keeping a bird. There is no medical advice here either, and the chat will not answer questions about the health of a bird or a person. Identification needs an internet connection. Scans you have already saved stay on your device and can be reopened at any time. PREMIUM Free includes 2 identifications per day. Premium lifts the daily limit and opens the full detail sheet on every result. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and you can manage or cancel yours in your Google Play account settings at any time.
