RME: PDF & Document Scanner is a privacy-first, local-first Android scanner for turning paper documents and existing files into clean PDFs, searchable text and an organized document library. Scan documents, import PDFs and images, recognize text on-device, search across your library, prepare safer copies for sharing and export standard files — without an RME account, ads, tracking or an RME cloud backend. Supported OCR includes Latin-script languages such as English, Romanian, German, French, Italian and Spanish, plus Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Devanagari. Latin OCR is built in. Additional OCR models can be downloaded through Google Play services and are then used on-device. SEARCH, REVIEW AND CORRECT Search document names, metadata and recognized text across your RME library, with matching text and page information where available. Review OCR results, correct mistakes, re-run OCR, choose another language and process multiple documents with batch OCR. Manual corrections are preserved where possible. SEARCHABLE PDFs Create PDFs with searchable text while preserving the appearance of the scanned document. RME supports multilingual searchable PDFs and uses corrected OCR text where possible. SHARE-SAFE COPIES Prepare a separate copy before sharing. • Irreversible blackout redaction • Purpose watermarking • Optional date marking • Optional upload-size target • Final preview before Save or Share Redaction is applied destructively to the prepared copy rather than as a removable visual annotation. FIT PDFS TO UPLOAD LIMITS Prepare PDFs for common limits such as 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB, 2 MB or a custom size. RME attempts to meet the requested limit while protecting readability. If a document already fits, unnecessary recompression is avoided.
