Speak with your eyes. EYEUM is a free communication aid for people who have difficulty speaking or using their hands, including those living with ALS. By moving your eyes left or right, you can select a phrase that the app then speaks aloud. HOW IT WORKS The first screen holds fourteen choices: six essential phrases, four frequently used phrases, and four category buttons - Pain, Action, Environment, and Feeling. Choosing a category opens a second screen with up to twelve phrases for that category. Once a phrase is selected, it is spoken aloud and the app returns to the first screen automatically, ready for the next message. This two-level layout keeps the most urgent phrases within a single selection, while still giving access to a wider vocabulary when there is time to say more.
