Full description
Hacker News – Pure and Timeless. I developed this HN Client to provide a fast and distraction-free reading experience for Hacker News. The app focuses on the essentials and helps you keep track of things even if you haven't been online for a few days. THE 14-DAY ARCHIVE: NEVER MISS AN IMPORTANT STORY AGAIN Often, the most exciting discussions disappear from the front page after just a few hours. To solve this, my server continuously builds an intelligent archive of the past two weeks in the background. Here's how the ranking works: • CONTINUOUS EVALUATION: Every 5 minutes, the top 500 stories are captured and scored (Rank 1 gets 500 points, Rank 500 gets one point). • TRUE RELEVANCE: The longer and higher a story is ranked throughout the day, the more prominent it appears in the historical view. • SMOOTH TRANSITIONS: To ensure that exciting discussions starting late in the evening don't get lost, top stories from the last 6 hours carry their momentum into the next day. This way, the archive doesn't just show a snapshot, but always exactly the content that moved the community the most throughout the entire day. PURE SIMPLICITY I run this app completely without ads or tracking. The design is based on the modern Material 3 standard and blends seamlessly with your Android system. KEY FEATURES: • FRONT PAGE: Current stories with smooth infinite scrolling. • INTELLIGENT ARCHIVE: Access to the weighted top lists of the past 14 days. • DISCUSSIONS: Clearly structured, deeply nested comments with collapsible threads for better readability. • INTERACTION: Log in securely to vote for posts directly within the app (Upvoting). • BOOKMARKS: Save interesting articles locally for later. • SEAMLESS READING: Articles open quickly and securely via Chrome Custom Tabs. • LOCAL HISTORY: Visited stories are visually marked (with automatic history cleanup). • CUSTOMIZABLE: Support for Light and Dark modes as well as adjustable font sizes. This app is an independent client and is not officially affiliated with Y Combinator or Hacker News. It is provided as a private project.
