Mātou

Mātou is the app for members of the Mātou community. It is where members talk, keep up with notices, plan projects, and make decisions together, with the community's records held by the community. Mātou is an Indigenous-led collective, and this app is built by Mātou for Mātou members. Identity in Mātou is relational: you become a member because people in the community recognise you, not because a company checked a document. WHAT MEMBERS CAN DO • Home: see who has joined, what is happening, and what needs your attention • Chat: channels for kōrero (conversation) with other members • Notices: announcements and updates from the collective • Projects: implementation plans, milestones, and contributions, with budgets and sign-off • Proposals: put decisions to the community and see where they stand • Members: the member directory, and invitations for stewards WHO THIS APP IS FOR This app is for the Mātou community only. It is not a general platform for other groups or communities to run. You join by invitation or by request: set up a profile, the app creates your identity on your phone, and Mātou stewards approve you. YOUR IDENTITY AND YOUR DATA • Your identity is a cryptographic key created on your device, backed by a 12-word recovery phrase that only you hold. There is no password and no account with us. • Community data is encrypted and synchronised peer to peer between members' devices and the community's own nodes. • No advertising, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and nothing sold or shared with third parties.
