Watching curling on TV, it looks deceptively simple — just slide a stone down the ice. But in reality, you're launching a 20 kg granite stone down 42 meters of ice, frantically scrubbing with a broom, and trying to land within centimeters of your target. How fast you drag determines the weight of your throw; how far left or right you drift adds rotation (curl). A slow drag gives a heavy, deep-running stone; a quick flick sends it flying. Rub your finger quickly along its path to reduce friction and help it travel further. Leave it alone and it will curl and slow naturally.
