Befree Live

BeFree helps you take back control of compulsive phone use — social media, doomscrolling, adult content, mobile games — with a calm, judgement-free companion by your side. No shame. No lectures. Just real support and tools that work. Whatever you're trying to cut back on, BeFree meets you where you are. 🌿 A companion who's actually on your side Meet a supportive AI partner you name yourself. Talk things through any time, get a gentle nudge when you've gone quiet, and a kind word the morning after a slip. Never a warden — always a companion. 🛡️ Block what pulls you in Choose the apps to block, on the schedules you set. Add place-based rules (like "block games at work"). Switch on an on-device adult-content filter. And for the hardest moments, an optional Strict Mode you can't simply switch off in a weak moment. ⏭️ Step out of the endless feed The optional Short-form blocker gently closes YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels the moment they open — the rest of the app stays usable. No block wall, just a calm nudge back to what you meant to do. 📈 Gentle daily check-ins A simple check-in builds your streak and helps you notice progress. Checking in — honestly — is the whole practice. Be proud of every day. ⏱️ See where the time goes A screen-time view shows today's usage, app by app — no judgement, just a clearer picture. 💛 Real help, one tap away A library of genuine support: counselling, articles, podcasts, and crisis lines — always free, always reachable. 🔒 Private by design Your data stays on your device by default. Your chats are kept on your phone. We never sell your data and never show ads. Cloud backup is optional and yours to delete any time. BeFree is free to use. BeFree Plus unlocks app & content blocking, the Short-form blocker, partner check-ins, and unlimited companion chat — with a 14-day free trial for new subscribers. How BeFree uses sensitive permissions BeFree only asks for what a feature needs, always with your consent, and you can turn each off any time: • Accessibility Service (app blocking) — used solely to notice which app is in the foreground, so BeFree can show a calm "blocked" screen for the apps you chose to block during your focus times. It never reads, logs, or collects screen content, and nothing leaves your device. • Short-form blocker (optional, separate Accessibility Service) — a second, opt-in service you switch on yourself, distinct from app blocking. For YouTube and Instagram only, it reads on-screen element names to notice when the Shorts or Reels feed opens, then gently steps you back out. It never reads your text, messages, captions or videos, saves or sends nothing, and stays on your device. • Usage access — only if you open the Screen time view. Reads today's per-app usage from Android to show it to you; it stays on your device. • VPN (Android VpnService) — powers the optional on-device adult-content filter. It runs entirely on your phone as a local filter: there is no remote VPN server, your internet traffic is never routed to us or anyone else, and nothing leaves your device except web-address (DNS) lookups. BeFree is a support tool, not medical treatment. If you're in crisis, please use the in-app helplines or contact your local emergency services.
