We log your career, not just your flights. Sojourn Logbook keeps the whole working record — flights, duty, rest, standby, positioning and training — for pilots and cabin crew. One set of entries answers two different questions: what you have flown, and where you stand against your flight-time limitations. A LOGGED HOUR IS NOT A PORTABLE FACT Two pilots fly the same sector. One files with the FAA, one under EASA. The FAA counts night from the end of evening civil twilight; other authorities count it from a fixed number of minutes after sunset. Command time is worse: the FAA lets the sole manipulator log PIC with an instructor aboard, while EASA reserves PIC for the designated commander and puts supervised command in a separate, countersigned column. A logbook that has stored "3.2 night, 6.4 PIC" has already thrown away what it needs to be correct anywhere else. STORE WHAT HAPPENED. COMPUTE AT EXPORT. Sojourn stores raw facts: block and airborne times in UTC, the route and aerodromes, the sun and twilight timestamps for that position and date, the crew role as flown, and actual IMC, hood and time under IFR as three separate fields. Night, cross-country and command time are never stored as numbers. They are computed against the rules of whichever authority you are exporting to, at the moment you export. File under one authority on Monday and another on Friday. WE DO NOT GUESS. WE VERIFY. Every rule — how an authority defines night, what counts as command time, where cross-country begins — is read from that authority's own legislation and recorded with the clause it came from. Each rule set is versioned and dated, and when a regulation changes, the rule set changes with it. Verified against primary legislation, including the FAA, EASA, UK CAA, TCCA, CASA, NZCAA, GCAA, QCAA, HKCAD and CAAS. Authorities still being checked stay visible in the app, with the unconfirmed item named rather than hidden. DUTY AND REST, FROM THE SAME ENTRIES Most logbooks do one job: prove what you flew. Your duty and rest live in your operator's rostering system, and you find out where you stand when somebody else decides to tell you. Log the sector once and both move — your experience record and your flight-time-limitation position. Where we hold your operator's own scheme, that scheme is applied, because a company rule governs where one exists. Every figure names the rule that produced it: your operator, your authority, or your own override. Figures are indicative — confirm against your Operations Manual. Not legal advice. FOR CABIN CREW, NOT AS A FOOTNOTE Cabin crew limits are their own, not a smaller version of the flight deck's. Higher duty ceilings, shorter rest floors, and in some jurisdictions no flight-time rule at all — and usually the only record belongs to the company.
