BREAKROOM — workers in Korea

The break room for people working in Korea. ■ We never ask for your company We never ask where you work or what your name is. There is no place in our database for your company. What we do not hold cannot leak. Sign in with Google, Facebook or email. Other people see only an anonymous nickname, never your real name. ■ Write in your own language You do not have to write in Korean. People who read another language see a translation. You can use it in 6 languages: Korean, English, Nepali, Vietnamese, Russian and Chinese. Posts are translated only when the writer agrees, and the original is always there too. ■ You can see who is answering Only people who verified their residence card can answer questions. This keeps out wrong advice and brokers. Casual posts need no verification. ■ Guides Before you come to Korea, reading your first payslip, part-time work for students, workplace change, unpaid wages, industrial accidents, dormitory deductions, re-entry and changing your visa, money you get when you leave, and benefits you can claim: insurance taken from your pay, health checkups, transport refund cards and more. Guides on rules carry only what we could confirm in the law or in official sources, with the source and the date we checked it. Read them in Korean, English, Nepali or Vietnamese; Russian and Chinese versions are being added, starting with the most-read guides. There is also a list of Korean words for the workplace. ■ Frequently asked questions Answers to what migrant workers ask most, checked against the government's own documents. Written in Korean and shown in other languages by machine translation. ■ Calculators Monthly pay (minimum wage, overtime premiums, weekly holiday pay), severance pay and annual leave. Keep a work log of the days and hours you worked: it adds up each week and can send the totals to the wage calculator. The calculators and the work log stay on your device and are never sent to a server. The log lives only on this phone, so export it from time to time. ■ My stay timeline From arrival to departure, your deadlines on one screen. Enter your arrival date and see dates such as the alien registration deadline, the day 4 years and 10 months ends, and when to claim departure guarantee insurance, in order. It also works out the deadline to apply for a workplace change. ■ Deadline reminders Tap "Remind me of this date" and we notify you 7 days and 1 day before. This needs sign-in, and only that date and its type are stored on our server. ■ Phone numbers are hidden Phone numbers and messenger IDs written in posts are hidden on screen.
