School Run

A bus leaves in the morning with twenty children on it and should arrive with twenty children. School Run is how the adults on that run keep track, from the first pickup to the last drop-off. Everyone on the run signs in with their own account and sees only what their job needs. For the bus attendant You open the run and work down the manifest stop by stop. One tap confirms a child: boarded in the morning, dropped off in the afternoon. Tapped the wrong name? Undo is right there. When the last stop is done you close the run and see who travelled and who did not. For the driver Your route, your stops in order, and navigation to the next one without leaving the app, so the screen never stops showing who is waiting ahead and how many children are still on board. Confirming attendance is not your job. It belongs to the attendant, who can actually see the bus. For teachers and school staff A read-only picture of the whole school: which runs are open right now, which children are still unaccounted for, and anything that needs looking at first. There is no confirm button here, on purpose. Two places to confirm would give you two answers about whether a child is on the bus. For parents Your own children and nobody else's. Which run each one is on, where they have got to, and how the day went. A few things we decided early Your role comes from your account, so nobody picks it from a menu. The attendant and the driver sign in separately even when they share a bus. And a confirmation is never quietly held back to send later, because a message saying your child was dropped off that arrives an hour after the fact is worse than no message at all. If something fails to send, you will see it fail. One app works for every school. Yours is recognised when you sign in.
