Wave Expo monitora il livello di potenza ricevuto dal telefono ed il suo utilizzo nelle diverse funzioni (chiamate vocali, traffico dati,..). Esposizione Il livello di potenza ricevuto dal telefono è correlato con l'esposizione ai campi elettromagnetici a radiofrequenza emessi dallo stesso. Il metodo di correlazione è stato messo a punto all'interno del progetto "ESPOSIZIONE UMANA A RADIOFREQUENZE. STUDIO SULL’IMPATTO DELLA TELEFONIA CELLULARE E SULLE MODALITÀ DI UTILIZZO DEL TELEFONINO PER LA RIDUZIONE DEI RISCHI" (https://www.cr.piemonte.it/dwd/pubblicazioni/guide/ARPA_RelFin_ProgTel.pdf), che ha permesso di stimare i livelli di esposizione ai campi elettromagnetici a radiofrequenza emessi dai cellulari nelle diverse modalità di utilizzo. L'esposizione è stata misurata per mezzo di un sistema sperimentale, realizzato appositamente, in grado di rilevare la potenza trasmessa dal telefono cellulare durante chiamate vocali o traffico dati. I dati rilevati sono state la base del calcolo di un indicatore di esposizione basato sulla correlazione tra il livello di segnale rilevato, il livello di campo ambientale e la potenza emessa dal telefonino.
