Full description
Livetickr is how publishers, clubs and event teams run a live blog: one feed, written by the desk and embedded on their own site, updating in front of readers without a page reload. This app is the part of it that goes to the event: your editorial team builds and orders the story in the dashboard, while the editors who are actually there file what they see. Open the ticker, write what just happened, send. The way you would send a message. FOR THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY THERE Your team sets the event up in the dashboard; you cover it from where it is. A goal, a substitution, the result of a count, the line the minister just said, the price on the slide behind the keynote. A few words, and it is with your readers before the room has finished reacting. There is no dashboard to navigate on a phone and nothing between the thought and the send button: what has been published sits above, the composer sits below. WHAT PEOPLE COVER WITH IT Match days and full match reports. Election nights, from the first projection to the concession. Council meetings and parliamentary sessions. Conferences and keynotes. Marathons and race weekends. Breaking news, where the alternative is a colleague retyping your messages into a browser. EVERY TICKER YOUR TEAM RUNS All of them, grouped by workspace and with the running events first, so you are not scrolling past finished ones to reach tonight's. Editors who work for more than one publisher switch between them without signing out. Correct your own entries when you need to, including taking back a picture you would rather not have sent. MORE THAN ONE OF YOU, ONE LIVE BLOG Several editors can file into the same ticker at the same time. One in the stand, one in the mixed zone, one back at the desk, and the entries arrive in the dashboard as they land. Nobody waits for a colleague to finish, and nobody reads their notes down the phone to whoever has the browser open. PICTURES WITHOUT THE WAIT Attach a photograph from the camera or the library. It is scaled on the phone before it goes, so one picture does not block everything behind it. Alt text is one field away, and worth the four seconds. IT KEEPS WRITING WHEN THE SIGNAL DOES NOT A full stadium is where mobile data goes to die, and it is exactly where you need to file. So nothing is sent straight from the composer: every entry goes into a queue on the device first. Write as fast as you like with no bars at all. Entries leave in the order you wrote them, as soon as there is a connection again and the app is open. One never jumps ahead of another still waiting, because a live blog reads as a sequence. If something cannot be sent at all, it stays in the thread, marked, with a send-again button. It is never quietly dropped. WHERE YOU ARE STAYS YOURS The app never asks for your location. A photograph's coordinates are stripped before anything is published, so they never reach a reader. What you are covering is your business. REQUIRES A LIVETICKR ACCOUNT This app is the companion to the Livetickr dashboard, not a way in on its own: tickers are created, configured and embedded at livetickr.io, and editors sign in here with the account they already use there, two-factor included.
