Prof Live Wallpaper

There is a fight going on behind your icons. A marine is holding a dungeon floor. Creatures arrive in waves; he shoots what he can, grabs whatever drops near him, and dies more often than he would like. Clear the last wave and the floor changes and it starts again, harder. None of it is recorded video. The fighting is worked out while you watch, the way the old shooters did it, so it never goes the same way twice. You do not play it. It just runs, and you are free to ignore it. Fourteen kinds of creatures, twenty-six waves, and supplies that come less and less often the further it gets. What it costs you: • About 1% of the battery an hour with the screen on, and nothing at all when you are not looking at it. That is measured - what the phone loses beyond a static wallpaper - not guessed. Drop the frame rate in the settings and it costs less. • No permissions. • No network. Nothing is sent anywhere, because the app has no way to send it. • No ads, nothing to buy, no paid version, and there never will be. That is not a promise, it is a condition of the code this is built on. In the settings: frame rate, the health readout on or off, and the background, which can be the dungeon floor, a plain colour or a picture of your own. If you happen to own a game file of your own you can point the app at it and it will use that instead. The artwork is Freedoom's, a free game in its own right, used under its BSD licence. I drew nothing on screen. The behaviour was written from scratch in Kotlin, based on the id Software engine source code, which is why it is GPL-2.0 and free.
