Chicka Roads

A stream drop either pays or it does not, and the figure that settles it is net head. Chicka Roads is the bench where you work that out: level 🧗 the run station by station, give each reach its pipe, and the gross head, the friction and fitting losses and the net head that actually reaches the wheel are computed in front of you, every figure showing the term it came from. Flow is gauged the way it is gauged in the field - by weir plate, float run, bucket and stopwatch, salt dilution or current meter, seven methods in all - and you photograph the stage board on each visit, so the readings build 🔨 into a stage record, a rating curve and a flow-duration curve with its Q10, Q50 and Q95 marks. From that curve Chicka Roads integrates a year 🗓️ of energy at your site 🏗️, then plots the site on a head-flow chart against nine runner types, from overshot and breastshot wheels to a spiral case and a screw in its trough, ranking them and naming the reason it rules each one out - needs twelve metres, you have four. Nine faults, eight works items and a pipe sizer that charges every bore its velocity and its loss per hundred metres round the bench out. Chicka Roads keeps each drop you survey, in metres or feet, litres per second or cubic feet, with every stage-board photograph held against the visit that took it.
