AstroHop

AstroHop is for families and curious beginners who want to step outside, look up, and actually know what they are seeing in the night sky. The app gives you a live Sky Compass, a real-time star map that draws labeled constellation outlines over a dark-sky canvas keyed to your phone's compass heading. Tap any outline to read a short myth teaser and find out which named stars make up the pattern. Tonight's Sky lists every constellation currently visible from your location, sorted by how high it sits right now, so you always know where to point your constellation finder first. As you find each one, your Spotter Log records the date, builds a running streak, and awards explorer badges for milestones like completing the full zodiac or sweeping an entire season. A daily Star Quiz draws three questions from constellations you have recently explored, covering myth details, star names, and shape recognition. Everything runs on the device: the Sky Compass reads your phone's compass sensor and approximate location to orient the live sky; the Constellation Atlas holds all 88 IAU constellation profiles grouped by season and rated for difficulty, and loads without a network connection. There is no account to create and no data sent to a server. There is no paid tier, no advertising and nothing to unlock.
