ChessMate: Play Chess Online

ChessMate is a chess club that fits in your pocket and works with the wifi off. PLAY OFFLINE Eight levels, and each one holds its strength honestly. A weaker level plays weaker moves rather than thinking for less time, and no level throws away a forced mate to let you win. Add a clock if you want one, or take your time. PLAY ONLINE Get paired with someone near your rating at 1+0, 3+2, 5+0, 10+0 or 15+10. Or open a private room, share the five-character code, and play a friend. Those games are unrated, so nobody is farming anybody. Sitting together? Scan the code instead of typing it. Arenas run a lobby: join with a code, ready up, and play a run of games against whoever turns up. PUZZLES Every puzzle is generated and checked rather than hand-written, and a position is only kept when one move is clearly best. There is a new one each day, and mistakes from your own games are saved as puzzles you can come back to. REVIEW WHAT HAPPENED Scrub the move timeline back and forth. Moves are graded on winning chances rather than raw centipawns, so dropping 200 from a level position is called a blunder and dropping the same 200 from a won game is not. TALK, OR DON'T Voice chat is there for online games. It starts switched off every time, and players under 13 cannot turn it on.
