Full description
Spends is a personal finance tracker built around one promise: your financial data never leaves your phone. No accounts. No cloud sync. No ads. No analytics. No internet permission. Just upload your bank or credit card statements and see where your money actually goes. HOW IT WORKS 1. Add your bank accounts and credit cards 2. Upload PDF, Excel, or CSV statements (supports ICICI, HDFC savings and Credit card statements) 3. Spends parses, deduplicates, and auto-categorizes every transaction 4. See your spending across 1,200+ pre-mapped Indian merchants 5. Drill into any insight to see the exact transactions behind it ▸ WHAT MAKES SPENDS DIFFERENT • 100% offline — uninstall your router, the app still works • AES-256 encrypted local database (SQLCipher) protects every byte at rest • PIN + fingerprint unlock with auto-lock on backgrounding • Smart auto-categorization for Indian merchants (Swiggy, Zomato, IRCTC, HDFC SmartBuy, ICICI Direct, BluSmart, all major OTT subscriptions, and 1,200+ more) • Investment-aware savings rate (SIPs and mutual funds count as savings, not spending — unlike most expense trackers) • Manual category edits are preserved across re-categorization • Multi-account dashboard with per-account filtering • Period filters: This Month, Last Month, 3 Months, 6 Months, YTD, Custom • Trend chart, category pie, monthly savings sparkline • Soft-delete with 5-second undo on every transaction • Export to encrypted .finx file (your backup) or plain CSV (for Excel) ▸ WHO IT'S FOR • Indians with one or more bank accounts and credit cards • Anyone uncomfortable with finance apps that require cloud accounts • People who want a real picture of their spending without surrendering their statements to a third party • Power users who want to write categorization rules and hand-curate their data ▸ NOT FOR • Bank account aggregation (we do not log into your accounts) • Investment portfolio tracking (we count investments as savings, not as a portfolio with current value) • UPI transaction sync from your phone (you must upload statements) ▸ PRIVACY (because it matters) Spends has no INTERNET permission. Open Settings → Apps → Spends → Permissions and verify. The only permissions requested are: - Biometric (for fingerprint unlock) - Storage read (to pick statement files; scoped to user-selected files on Android 13+) Your encrypted database lives at /data/data/in.spends/files/ and is wiped only when you uninstall the app or use the in-app "Erase All Data" button.

What's new

Fixed: payments over UPI, NEFT and IMPS were filed as transfers between your own accounts, so they never counted as spending. Totals for past months will go up and some transactions will need sorting - this is the fix, not a fault. New: restore points before each import and about once a day as you use the app, so a bad import can be rolled back. New: a Miscellaneous category, and a way to put a transaction back to Uncategorized.
