Full description
BuddyC — the 8051 C IDE for your phone Write C code for 8051 microcontrollers, compile it right on your phone, and flash it to your board over a USB OTG cable. No PC, no internet, no installing a toolchain. BuddyC is built for students, hobbyists and teachers working with the BuddyKit 8051 board and the Nuvoton W78E052D. You get a complete embedded workflow in one app: edit → compile → flash → see serial output. ✏️ A real code editor • C syntax highlighting with auto-indent and bracket auto-close • A symbol bar with the keys C needs: { } ( ) ; # & | [ ] and more • Multiple files per project, with tabs, and sub-folders for your own drivers • The keyboard opens only when you tap the code, so reading and scrolling stay clean ⚙️ SDCC compiler, on the device • The open-source Small Device C Compiler (SDCC) runs on your phone. Nothing is uploaded to a server. • Builds 8051 code (MCS-51, small model, optimized for size) into an Intel HEX file • A live build log shows every compiler step as it runs • Errors and warnings are listed clearly. Tap one to jump to that line. • Shows your program size against the chip's 8 KB of flash 📚 Ready-made 8051 libraries Just #include the header and BuddyC compiles the library in for you: delay, 16×2 LCD (4-bit), UART, I2C, SPI, DS1307 RTC, 4×4 keypad, 7-segment display, motor, timer, EEPROM, MPU6050, PCF8591 ADC, GSM and HC-SR04 ultrasonic. ⚡ One-tap flashing over USB OTG • Flash tells you if the program won't fit, then erases the chip, writes the program and verifies every block on the chip itself. • Uses the W78E052D's built-in factory ISP loader, so no programmer hardware is needed • The board is reset automatically through the USB adapter. Manual reset is also supported. • Works with common USB-serial adapters: CH340/CH341, CP210x, FTDI, PL2303 and CDC • Live progress, and the new program starts as soon as flashing ends 🔌 Serial monitor • See what your board prints, at baud rates from 1200 to 115200 • Type in the terminal to send data to the board • Pauses by itself while flashing and reconnects afterwards 📁 Projects on your phone • Create, open and delete named projects, each with as many files as you need • Share a project as a .zip over WhatsApp, email or Drive • Import a .zip project from a friend, a teacher or a class • New projects start with a ready-to-run LED blink on the board's built-in LED (P1.1) Perfect for • Engineering and diploma students learning 8051 / embedded C • Labs and workshops where every student can't have a PC • Hobbyists who want to tweak and re-flash a project anywhere What you need • An Android phone with USB OTG support (64-bit / arm64) • A USB OTG adapter and a USB cable to your 8051 board • A BuddyKit 8051 board, or any W78E052D board whose serial DTR line drives reset BuddyC is part of the BuddyKit family. For MicroPython on ESP32, see BuddyPy. SDCC is free, open-source software (GPL). BuddyC includes it unmodified.
