That is why Android shows a VPN key in your status bar while TapOff is on. TapOff is not a proxy and not a privacy VPN. It does not hide or change your IP address. Muting uses Android's Notification Access. TapOff reads incoming notifications only to dismiss the ones from apps you muted.
