Full description
Appointer turns handwriting into calendar events and to-dos, and skips the part where you put the pen down and start tapping. Pull the S Pen out and the writing canvas is already there. Write "Dentist Tuesday 9am". Appointer reads it, works out the date, and shows you what it understood. One tap to confirm. That's the whole app. WHY IT'S DIFFERENT • The pen is the trigger. On Samsung devices, taking the S Pen out opens the capture canvas by itself — no unlocking, no hunting for an icon, no waiting for an app to start. • Your handwriting is read on your phone. Recognition runs on-device through Google's ML Kit. The ink never leaves the device. • Nothing is created behind your back. Every event and to-do is shown to you first — title, date, time, length, which calendar — and you can change any of it, or say "not this one" and keep it as a plain note. A NOTEBOOK THAT FILES ITSELF Appointer also keeps ruled notebook pages that behave like paper. Write a line, pause, and a small mark appears in the margin: a calendar icon, a to-do tick, or nothing at all if it was just a thought. Send them one at a time, or post the whole page at once. • Your handwriting stays handwriting — pages redraw exactly as you wrote them • Hold the S Pen button to erase; tap undo to take back the last stroke • Swipe with a finger to turn the page, and keep writing with the pen • As many notebooks as you like. One is the default, and quick notes always land there • A page overview with real ink thumbnails, plus search and filters over what you've written WHERE NOTES GO • Your device calendar — the one you choose, with a colour and a length per event • Home Assistant to-do lists, if you run one. You provide the address, the list and a token you generate yourself; requests go from your phone straight to your server and nowhere else • Or nowhere at all. A note can stay a note Everything lands in History, where you can edit it, retry a post that failed, or delete it — deleting takes the event it created with it. PRIVACY, PLAINLY No account. No analytics. No developer server, so there is nowhere for your notes to go. The only network traffic Appointer causes on its own is Google's one-time download of the handwriting model. If you connect Home Assistant, that traffic goes to your machine. Your Home Assistant token is encrypted with the phone's hardware-backed Keystore. Settings has an export that writes your notes, notebooks and handwriting to a file you choose — yours to keep, and to restore onto a new phone. GOOD TO KNOW • Auto-launch on pen removal relies on a Samsung broadcast, so it works on Samsung devices with an S Pen. With the screen on it opens the canvas directly; locked or off, it arrives as a full-screen notification. Everything else in the app works on any Android phone. • Date detection understands everyday English phrasing, and you can teach it your own shorthand — a word of your own that means "twelve days from today". • Handwriting recognition follows your device language. Written by one developer, for the small number of people who still think best with a pen in their hand.
