It doesn't drop a whole game on you; it teaches one level at a time. 56 LEVELS, ONE STEP AT A TIME Chapter 1 covers the board and how each piece moves and captures — pawn, rook, bishop, knight, queen, king. Chapter 2 shows how pieces work together. Then opening principles, tactics (forks, pins, skewers, deflection), and finally checkmate patterns. Every level has a clear goal and three stars. Get a move wrong and you don't just get a red X — it tells you why it was wrong and what to think about instead. AN AI COACH THAT ANSWERS "WHY" This is what makes Chess Stars different. While playing, you can type "why can't my rook take that?" and the coach explains it in plain words. Ask as many times as you like — it never gets impatient and never talks down to you.
