Full description
Rafiq is a VPN client. One screen, one button. Press it and your traffic leaves the phone through an encrypted tunnel. Press it again and you are back on your ordinary connection. AUTO SERVER, OR YOUR OWN CHOICE Auto measures which servers actually answer from where you are and connects to the quickest of them, so most people never open the server list at all. When you do want to pick for yourself, it slides over the home screen: type a country name to filter it, or star the servers you keep going back to and they stay at the top for next time. If the one you picked is down, Rafiq says so and offers to hand the choice back to Auto instead of retrying a dead route. ARABIC, NOT AN AFTERTHOUGHT Every screen exists in Arabic and is laid out right to left, in a typeface drawn for Arabic instead of one borrowed from the Latin set. Switch language in Profile; Rafiq remembers the choice between launches. YOUR NUMBERS STAY ON YOUR PHONE Activity shows how much you downloaded and uploaded and how long you stayed connected, by day and across the week. That history is written to your device's local storage. There is no copy of it on our servers, and the app builds those charts without asking anything from us. While the tunnel is up, the home screen shows the current ping and speed, plus how long this session has been running. TWO MORE THINGS IN PROFILE Auto-connect brings the tunnel up the moment you open the app, so you do not have to remember. And if you want to leave, account deletion is a row in Profile, not a support ticket: confirm with a code from your email, then you have 14 days to change your mind before the data is erased. BEFORE YOU INSTALL Access to Rafiq is by code. You sign in with your email and a one-time code, then enter an access code issued by our support team. Without that code the app will not connect. If you do not have one, write to [email protected] and ask for it. WHAT A VPN DOES AND DOES NOT DO It changes the route your traffic takes and hides its content from the network you are sitting on: the cafe Wi-Fi, the hotel, the mobile operator. It is not anonymity, and it will not make you invisible to the services you log into. Use it for what it is actually good at.
